Welcome to the website of Abbey Rangers F.C - Veterans.
The aim of this site is to provide information for and about the Veterans squad at Abbey Rangers FC.
Abbey Rangers Football Club was formed in 1976 initially to promote and provide football for young boys between the ages of 7 through to 16, naming itself after the historic Chertsey Abbey. The club has had several homes throughout Chertsey and Addlestone and played its football wherever a pitch was available.
Over the years Abbey Rangers FC has grown enormously and needed to plant it’s roots in one place, the club was fortunate in finding it’s new home and finally established itself in it’s current location at the old Mead school playing fields, Addlestone Moor, Surrey.
Our facilities comprise of 3 main soccer pitches, 3 minor league pitches and a floodlit training area. We also have a great clubhouse to welcome visiting teams and new members to. The building was mainly funded by the Football Foundation, members and friends, and on 3rd June 2008 Sir Trevor Brooking officially opened the building.
At the beginning of season 2012/13 the club has well in excess of 500 playing members, representing over 40 teams ranging from our new introductory level with the under 6's onto the youth teams up to under 18’s through to 4 adult men teams, including the Veterans team. The girls section at the club, from small beginnings 5 years ago has expanded to 10 teams with further teams planned for the coming season. Abbey Rangers take much pride in providing the community with a safe sporting environment for it’s young boys & girls. We are very proud to hold FA Standard Charter Community status which sets out the standards to which we follow, all managers must go through an induction which includes CRB vetting and are encouraged to obtain their FA coaching badges in their first season at the club.
The future looks bright, both on and off the pitch. We have recently upgraded our floodlights, and a new equipment building is almost complete.
