The first season playing in the Welsh League Reserve Division was certainly a step up in standard from what the Buds Reserves have been used to. Every game was competively fought and this was the learning curve this young side needed. Although finishing bottom of the league, the lads can be proud of the way they adapted to senior football. The side boasted four sixteen year olds where the average age must have only been in the early twenties. The team competed and won a few games but the most pleasing aspect was the fact that most of this team stepped up to the first team and equiped themselves well. In fact, the last game of the season against seven Sisters, six reserve players started and performed well on the bigger stage and in fact won the game 1-0. These were the positives out of a season that apart from not enough games was very pleasing. Rhys Luther has now stepped down from manager and leaves the way for some one else to pick up the baton and take this team to the next level. I have a feeling next season will be a rewarding one.
