RUGBY TOWN BOYS 4  ADMIRALS JFC 2

The long awaited game against local rivals Rugby Town was eventually played today. Rugby needed the win to secure 2nd spot and Admirals cemented in 4th spot were just playing for pride. Admirals started the stronger and totally dominated the 1st half. We bombarded Rugbys goal with shots from Daniel Davies,Macauley Grainger,Josh Kavanagh, Jamie Hall & MOTM Callum Whiteside but Rugbys keeper was in outstanding form. Rugby With their 1 and only shot of the 1st half took a undeserved lead. Admirals were undetered and continued to boss the game. The back 4 of Josh Parsons,Elliot Groocock,Daniel Davies & Luke Brunt dealt with every threat Rugby posed. Admirals then got their deserved equaliser when Jamie Hall scored direct from the corner and make it 33 goals for the season. H/T 1-1.
The 2nd half got started and the game was a bit more of a even affair. Ashley Cutts had 1 great save to make tipping the ball round the post. Up the other end Macauley Grainger was denied when his goal bound header was tipped over the bar. Jacob Plumbley,Tom Truslove,Zak Johnson,Jack Watts all had great games. With the score still level with 10 mins to go and Admirals under a lot of pressure scored a classic counter attack goal a great ball from Jamie Hall to Josh Kavanagh who took on the last man only to see his shot saved and Macauley Grainger was on hand to score his 32nd goal of the season. 1-2 and Rugby not posing much of a goal threat we all thought that was it how wrong we were, from Rugbys kick off they equalised with a wind assisted thunder bolt which no keeper would have stopped. Late on Rugby finished the stronger and went on to score 2 more goal which i think flattered them a bit. In a game like this i would usually say a draw would have been fair but no i still believe Admirals were the better team but were denied the victory by Rugbys MOTM goalkeeper. Every Player should be proud of their achievments this season WELL DONE.
