Important Message from Alan Walker
Date: 28/12/06
FROM CHAIRMAN ALAN WALKER

With effect from Sunday 14th January I have bowed to the pressure of the Chairman's role within the club and will stand down as Manager of the Ladies team.

Once the decision was made to introduce a Ladies team into the club, I agreed to combine my duties as Chairman and take on the start up of the Ladies team. But the dual role has proved very time consuming, and I felt the development of the club was being compromised. With a five year plan for growth well under way, this could not be allowed to suffer, so I felt this move was vital.

I am therefore delighted to welcome RICHARD SPENCE to the club and he will take over the Management of the Ladies team from 14th January.

Richard has a good knowledge of the game, and has great enthusiasm which will be vital as the team continues to develop. He has been a tremendous partner on the touchline these last two weeks, and has greatly eased the burden of matchdays. He is now very keen to take the reigns, which he will do once he returns from his extended christmas break.

My last match as Manager will be the game against Welbeck on the 7th January. This is an important game for the club as victory will assure us of not finishing bottom.

I would personally like to thank ALL members of the Ladies team for their patience and support during long months of development. We started by training 3 times a week in the summer, and have developed at a magnificent pace. Not all have lasted the pace, and new players have been added along the way, but the nucleus of the side remains the same. Great credit to every one of them, and I know they will all get behind the new Manager and give him their total support.

I will still attend games and will watch with interest the continued progress. But I will also have time to occasionally watch the mens team who are having a good season too.

I thank you all for your support, and hope we get a good crowd after Christmas at Newstead on the 7th to cheer the team on in this vital match.
