Inaugural Matthews Memorial Cup

The Matthews Memorial Cup tournament which will take place on 29th July 2006. This is in memory of Gill Matthews, mother of Wesley Matthews, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Wesley is AFC Kempston Town's former manager and current Football Co-ordinator.

The tournament is an invitation only event and will follow a 6-a-side format. There will be ten teams of eight separated into two leagues of five. Each team will play each other once to decide final league standings. The tournament is then split into two competitions. The top two teams in each league will then proceed to the Cup semi final. The third and fourth placed teams in each league will proceed to the semi final of our consolation plate competition. The bottom placed teams are eliminated. The losing semi finalists of their corresponding competitions will then play in a third/fourth place play off, while the two winning semi finalists of each competition will compete in the finals. The winners of the cup competition will be crowned Matthews Memorial Cup champions.

AFC Kempston Town Under 18
29 May 2006

Season 06-07 see's Town restart an under 18 team to further develop the ties with Kempston Colts and offer another steping stone into adult football.

Current Colts Under 12 manager Pete Henrickson will take charge with assistance from Julian Chadbourne. The pair currently boast a double double in youth football and hope to carry this through to the under 18s. Lets hope their current moto of "in it to win it" proves good.

Trails are to be held on 03 june 2006 on Hillgrounds playing feild.
