The majority of the current team played together on a Saturday morning on the Hillgrounds Road field at the community run camp, which feeds up boys/teams to play for AFC Kempston Colts.
Once the boys had been fed through the system, they started training on the AWP inside the Rovers ground, which meant no more muddy boots for the parents! After a year of training sessions together, Tommy offered to go through the coaching training, which filled up his weekends and took him away from helping his wife with the housework!! Tommy then became the teams Manager and Coach.
The boys had a very good first season together and learnt a great deal from game to game. They got stronger as the season went on and played very well as a team.
Towards the end of the season, Tommy got Daren to go onto the coaching training and assist during training sessions and matches. Unfortunatley Daren was injured during the coaching training sessions. However, he continued to assist the team by regularly reffing during our home games.
The boys first season went well and we look forward to improving on everything that we learnt.
Thanks to Tommy for giving up his weekends and to ALL of the parents who got to home games early to set up the goals and for bringing in oranges for the boys during half time.
Also a big thank you to Wendy, who took the boys shirts home at the end of each match and had them washed ready for the next game!
Heres to another good season!!
