Sunday 22^nd April v St Martins (away)

Matty A was absent today

Ben T and Anu started as subs.

A header by Joe ensured that Kempston kept possession and got the ball down the wing, where a St Martins player knocked it off and gave Kempston an early throw in.

Ethan used his chest to control the ball down to the floor and knock it over to Marco, who crossed the ball to Dario, who took the ball with him and had to battle hard to keep possession long enough to get it across to Jake.

Matty B took a throw in, which St Martins kicked away and gave Kempston a corner kick, taken by Jake and just needed a little encouragement to get it over the line.

Ethan used his body to guard the ball from a St Martins striker until George had the ball safely in both of his hands.

A run through the centre of the pitch, allowed Bailey the space to receive the ball from Marco and to then cross it over to Jake, who sent to through to Ben V and a tap from Ben V to Dario, saw Dario’s strike saved.

Josh was working well in defence and cleared the ball out.

Ethan made a great goal in defence and was on the floor but soon supported by Matty B, who ensured that the ball was safe.

Josh took the ball down the wing and released it to Jake, who saw an open Marco.

A corner from Joe went to Dario’s feet, which allowed him to scissor kick the ball at target.

Matty B took the ball in the face, but stood his ground and was straight back in the game to make a second great tackle.

Josh, Ben V and Ethan worked together in defence as they moved the ball between them in an attempt to prevent St Martins from having a shot.

A goal kick from George was flicked on by Marco to Bailey.

A throw in from Josh was flicked on by Bailey using his head to keep the ball up front and towards the goal.

Matty B’s throw in went straight to Jake’s feet, who returned the ball to Matty B, who was unmarked, so that Matty B could cross the ball into the box.

Josh took a throw in, to which Ben V ran on to receive it and knock the ball up front.

A nice corner taken by Jake went straight into the goalies hands.

A thigh block from Bailey, kept the ball up front.

Matty B stopped a St Martin’s goal kick and tapped the ball through to Marco who flicked the ball over the player’s heads, but unfortunately, Kempston had 3 players off side.

Marco sent the ball through to Anu who ran with it and was faced just with the goalie, his chip was just too high and the ball went over the cross bar.

A strong defensive performance by Matty B saw him stay with the determined ST Martin’s attacker and soon Ethan was there to back him up and support.

Anu and Marco worked well passing the ball between them as hey moved it further up the pitch.

Dario squeezed the ball through the St Martin’s defensive line and forward to Anu.

Ethan was fouled off of the ball and landed awkwardly, but this didn’t deter him as he continued with the game.

A goal kick was stopped by Marco, sent over to George H, who sent it to Bailey who saw Anu making a run and sent to the over to him.

Marco made a speedy run back to support the defence line and clear the ball to safety.

A throw in was headed to Anu from Bailey, who sent the ball to Ben V who was able to make a great cross.

Josh passed to Bailey, who saw George H had broken free from his defender and allowed him to slip the ball into the ball into the back of the net making it 1-0.

A strike at goal by Dario was followed up by Bailey, but the St Martins goalie had managed to get both hands to it first.

St Martins made a break for goal and George made a good save.

Josh worked well to keep possession of the ball and send it down the wing.

Dario ran back down the wing to support Matty B who had saved the ball from the goal line.

A flick of the ball from Dario’s head was met by Bailey, who struck the ball and went straight into the keeper’s hands.

Marco, Bailey and Anu triangle set play worked the ball forward.

Bailey played the ball off of the St Martins player to win a throw in, that went towards Anu, but the TS Martins keeper was quick and was able to get to the ball first.

A shot at goal by Ben V, needed to be slightly redirected across the line, but the attackers were just unable to get the ball over the line at first, but Matty B stopped the ball and sent it back into the goal area, where Marco’s shot slid through the keepers legs and made the score 2-0.

St Martins came back strong after the 2^nd goal and were making the defence work hard as the whistle was blown for the end of the first half.

Joe ran back with the attacker to stop him from getting a strike at goal.

Ben T kept his tackles timed well back in defence to ensure that the ball was moved to safety from the attacker’s feet.

Dario worked the ball down the wing to Anu.

Josh took a throw in that went to Marco’s feet before he sent the ball back to Josh, who crossed the ball into the box.

Ben T stuck with the St Martin’s attacker to ensure that the ball went wide of the goal.

Dario, Anu and Bailey worked the ball in front of the goal area.

Josh used his left foot to boot the ball forward.

Ben T used his body to defend the ball.

Dario worked hard against a couple of St Martins players to keep possession.

Ben T made a great run back to deflect a St Martin’s shot away from goal.

A huge goal kick from George was stopped by George H who was up front.

Joe knocked the ball, using his head, down to the floor and then up front.

Marco head flicked a goal kick.

St Martins broke free and had a shot at goal.

Ben V stayed strong to clear the ball.

Marco sent to the ball to Ben V, back to Marco and down the wing.

Ben T was up to head a ball clear of goal.

A thrown in from St Martins touched another players head and was heading straight to goal, where George saved it.

Some nifty footwork from Joe paid off as he kept possession in the centre of the pitch.

St Martins were determined to score and a cross from their attacker went straight across the goal mouth.

Ben V had positioned himself well out on the wing ready to receive a goal kick, showing how much more the team are learning to read the game.

Marco stopped St Martins from getting on the score sheet as St Martins kept up their determination and were on the attack.

Josh saved a shot at goal with the heel of his boot.

Joe worked the ball up to Anu, whose shot was wide.

Joe got back to the centre of the pitch and regained possession and belted the ball back up front.

Jake worked hard out on the wing as he moved the ball past the St Martins players.

The ball went between Jake, Anu and George H for a shot, which was saved.

Marco flicked the ball up to Jake and the referee awarded Kempston with a penalty, taken by Joe and straight in the back of the net, making the score 3-0.

Within a minute Bailey was making a tackle back at the other end and was awarded a penalty against him, which ST Martins got in the back of the net and made the score 3-1.

Kempston kept working well as a team and moved the ball up front whenever they could.

A St Martin’s free kick was deflected by Ben V’s back.

A scramble in front of the goal by St Martins didn’t change the score as the referee blew the whistle and left the score as another win for Kempston at 3-1.

Today’s player of the match was awarded to Joe – congratulations.

Well done boys.  It was another good performance.
