Fixture - 16/03/08 to 13/04/08 |
| Date: 03/03/08 |
The next lot of fixtures have been released and they make interesting reading. AFC Lexden only have league games remaining and the first in the new schedule is a home game against Bromley This is a reverse of the previous weeks fixture and they are bound to be two tough, tight and important games.
This is followed by a visit from FC Drury on 23rd March. There is currently no scheduled fixture for the week after (30/03/08), but 6th April sees Dog & Pheasant visit Gas Rec.
The final scheduled fixture is on 13th April when Byair are the visitors to AFC Lexden.
The league season is set to continue into the middle of May, and AFC Lexden are currently not scheduled to play at Borussia Thorpmund. They have a massive fixture backlog due to their poor pitch and good cup runs and so it is unlikely that we will fit this game in. The result would then go down as a 0v0 draw and 1 point to both teams.
However, there is still a chance that the league may be able to squeeze it in, and both sides must put out a team, or conceed the points.
SATO have withdrawn from the league and so all their results are null and void (We will be keeping our result against them in our stats)

Colchester Sunday League - Mid season meeting (25/01/08) |
| Date: 26/01/08 |
The only real points of interest to us at the meeting were as follows:
Clubs voted "no" to astr pitches being used. This dissappointed the league, so I'm sure they'll have another go next year.
AFC Lexden have entered the Wally Castle Cup 2008/09
This season's transfer deadline is 7th March 2008.
The evening Gazette is giving up to 2 pages of coverage every Wednesday to the Colchester Sunday League
Our next lot of fixtures have been released.

|
Fixtures - 03/02/08 to 09/03/08 |
| Date: 26/01/08 |
The next lot of fixtures have been released and AFC Lexden will go through February without a league game.
AFC Lexden only have one home fixture in the next 6 weeks and that is on 3rd Feb against Feerng Utd in the Osborne Cup.
If AFC Lexden overcome Colchester Ath in the Wally Castle Cup, the next round is on 10th Feb away to either Drury Res or CUSA.
At present, there are no fixtures for AFC Lexden on 17th Feb or 2nd March, although this is subject to alteration.
If we make it passed Feering Utd in the Osborne Cup, we will be in the quarter finals where we will face a tricky trip to either Borussia Thorpmund or Allstars.
The final fixture of this set sees us travel to Broussia Thorpmund for a league game on 9th March.

| Date: 15/01/08 |
On Friday 25th January, the league hold their mid-season meeting. One of the items on the agenda is the question of playing on Astro Turf. This is to be discussed and then voted on.
We would like to know your views on this matter, so that we may cast our vote with the wishes of the club members in mind.
Please feel free to speak with any member of the committee, or email afc_lexden@hotmail.co.uk.
There has also been a discussion set up on the Colchester Sunday League Facebook site (see Usefull Links)

| Date: 19/11/07 |
The next lot of fixtures have been released and they see AFC Lexden continue to play away from home. Having not played at Gas Rec since 7th October, the next home game is not until 13th January 2008 when we entertain Feering Utd in the league.
Before then, we face league trips to FC Byair (02/12/07), FC Drury (16/12/07) and Dog & Pheasant (06/01/08). We have no fixtures on 9th December, 23rd December or 30th December 2007.
On the 20th January 2008, we will play in the last 16 of the Wally Castle cup away to the runners up of Group D, before entertaining Dog & Pheasant in the league a week later.

Wally Castle (Group G) |
| Date: 22/10/07 |
Following the recent 2v2 draw at Tilly, AFC Lexden have secured progression to the knock out stages by winning Group G. Tilly still have to play St Edmunds, but the result will not make any difference to the group standings, as second place Eastgate cannot be caught.
AFC LEXDEN P4 Pts 10 +10
Eastgate P4 Pts 9 +12
St Edmunds P3 Pts 3 -2
AFC Airborne P4 Pts 3 -8
Tilly P3 Pts 1 -12

Andrzej BUDA - The big 5 0 |
| Date: 08/10/07 |
This is not his age...When Andrzej Buda scored his 4th goal in the 12-0 win over Newtown Rovers Res, he scored his 50th goal for AFC Lexden. He then scored another one to make his record 51 goals in 51 games. His tally includes one hat-trick, 4 lots of 4 goals and 1 set of 5. Andrzej scored the first ever competitive AFC Lexden goal in our 3-0 win over Northgate in September 2005, and he also holds the record for the most number o goals in a season when he struck 34 goals in 2006/07.

Fixtures 14/10/07 to 25/11/07 |
| Date: 08/10/07 |
The fixture computer has not been kind to AFC Lexden for the next set of games as the next 6 games are all away from home. 3 of the next 5 games are in the Wally Castle Cup to complete our group stage fixtures. Following victory over Eastgate, we are in a good position to progress from the group for the first time. We are due for 4 league games in the next 7 weeks. Trips to Feering and Newtown are followed by two tricky fixtures away at Sato and then home to FC Byair.

Rick CRANFIELD - The big 5 0 |
| Date: 17/09/07 |
Richard Cranfield scored his 50th goal for AFC Lexden in the cup exit to Revoultion on Sunday 16th September.
He has achieved this landmark in exactly 50 games since September 2005.
He is the club's top goalscorer and has been on the scoresheet in 25 of his 50 appearances.
He has actually scored 24.15% of all AFC Lexden's goals since the club was formed.
He has scored 5 hattricks, twice scored 4 in a game, and once he scored 5.
Despite his penalty shootout miss (keeper save), he is the club's penalty taker and he has previously scored 9 out of 9 from the spot.
Congratualtions to Rick on reaching this landmark, and let's hope that there are many more to come.

The first round of the Thornavon Cup sees AFC Lexden in a home tie against Revolution from Division 3. A victory in this fixture will set up a second round tie at home to Colchester Deaf (formerly Colchester United Deaf).
There are only 2 league games in AFC Lexden's first 6 games. They are a home fixture with Borussia Thorpmund (23/09/07) and away to Ramsey Utd Res (30/09/07).
