AFC Poppies are the supporters team of Kettering Town FC.
The team was founded in July 2008 by Darren Young after interest was shown by Kettering supporters regards playing matches against other clubs supporters teams.
The team held it's first training session on the 17th July 2008 and 14 players turned up. Numbers have grown since and at the team now has a squad of 32 players.
In August 2008 the team secured two sponsorship deals. Ar Tarn private hire became the teams main sponsors and their company name and logo proudly appear on the front of the clubs strip. Ar Tarn's sponsorship also allowed the team to buy training balls, a match ball, drinks bottles, training bibs, net pegs, ball holder and other minor items needed for training and matches.
The second sponsorship deal came from Funky Town Grooves. The sponsorship allowed the team to get numbers printed on the back of the team shirts.
Also in August AFC Poppies played our first game when on Sunday 31st August 2008 we defeated the Nuneaton Borough supporters team 8-0.
In September further fixtures were announced against the supporters teams from Kidderminster Harries, Ebbsfleet United, Cambridge United, and Oxford United with the club also having their second game at Oxford unfortunately called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
In October 2008 the team moved to floodlit training at Kettering Leisure Village. The Weekly sessions have became a success and are reguly attended by over 20 players.
Then the team also announced their 3rd sponsor when Kettering Town supporter Hammy Young sponsored the team. The money donated by Hammy allowed the team to buy a full set of shorts and socks.
