THE HISTORY TO DATE:

Season 2004-2005

The first season saw AFC acclimatise to the rigours of sunday morning football as they were handed out some harsh lessons in their early fixtures. However, after improvements were made, AFC finished season 04-05 strongly and finished in 8th out 12 in Division 4.

Season 2005-2006

Season 05-06 saw AFC began their second season in division 3 of the South Lancs Counties. Progress was always being made and again an impressive finish to the season saw AFC eventually finish a modest 10th out of 14.

Season 2006-2007

At the beginning of season 06-07, AFC had found themselves propelled up into Division 2 and with an array of fresh talent, they looked like a team capable of causing some real damage.

Genuine quality was captured and improvements in every department were made during the close season.

Although AFC started the season slowly, mainly due to injuries and suspensions, they began to get to grips with the opposition.

AFC pulled off a major scalp in round 2 of The Houghton Cup as they demolished division 1 side Whitley by 5-0 and saw them to the 3rd round stage for the first time in their history.

But it was in the Davenport Millenium Trophy were AFC put together a magical cup run. It ended when they were beaten in the final on penalties by Hindley Town. The cup run did however affect the league form as they ended the season again 10th out of 14.
