This Semi Final saw Newly Crowned BSML Champions All Saints take on Homers for the fourth time for a place in the Rainey Cup Final and two second half goals from Homers seen them secure a Final spot.
Homers started well and went close early on when Alan Rainey broke clear but dragged a shot wide of the Saints goal. Saints looked to be struggling to get to grips of the game as Homers were well on top with Paul McNeill and Gary Bonnes causing all sorts of problems for the Saints defence. Sainst were then dealt a major blow when influential centre half Michael Maybin had to go off injured but despite being under the cosh Saints almost took the lead on 15 minutes when an Alan Telford effort went narrowly over the bar. This sparked Saints into life as minutes later Peter McReynolds forced a point blank save from Ryan Martin in the Homers goal and then Alan Telford saw his volley deflected wide by his own player. Homers best chance of the half fell to Darren Campbell when he reacted quickest when an Ian Millar corner wasn’t cleared but Brian Martin made a superb save to send the sides in level at the break.
The second half saw Homers come out with attacking intent with Darren Campbell starting to control the game from midfield. Homers took the lead on 58 minutes when a shot from Gary Bonnes was parried by Brian Martin to Alan Rainey who reacted quickest to slam home the rebound and give his side the lead. Saints struggled to comeback after this but went close when Alan Telford forced a save from Ryan Martin with a free kick and Peter McReynolds also made him save with a long range effort. With Saints pushing hard for the equaliser Homers were always dangerous on the break and on one of those breaks Paul McNeill broke free down the right and hammered the ball home from a narrow angle to give his side a 2-0 lead with 12 minutes to go. Saints tried hard to get back in the game but Homers seen the game out and deservedly sealed a place in the Rainey Cup Final and in doing so making sure they reached the Final of all Cup Competitions they entered this season .
