FOOTBALL IS BACK AGAIN

Welcome back, to a new season, and a warm welcome back to players who have resigned for the club, and a special welcome to all the new players, great to have you on board. I am losing count, of the number of reserve
team managers, that I have seen off, in my long assoaticated with the club, but a warm welcome to Gary Wright, ex player and last season, joint manager of Rowhedge Reserves, now the reserve team manager. All the best
for the season, and likewise for the first X1 joint managers, of Malcolm Price and Nick Alston. My prayer, as always, throughout the ups and downs, in victory and defeat, enjoy your footie, enjoy the season.
What an open day fixture for the first team, a home fixture against last seasons league cup winners, West Bergholt, but if ACR want to progress, these are the sort of sides you need to compete with. But before I give you the
highlights of that game, there was an early kickoff for the reserves. Because their fixtures are not starting, for another fortnight, manager Gary Wright was quick in arranging a friendly, away to Langham, who compete in the
east Essex league. So "When Saturday Comes" started early for yours truly. After joining other committee members, in preparing Ford Lane for the visit of Bergholt, it was off to Langham, for a 1.00pm k.o.
After setting the early pace, it all started to get a bit scrappy, for the reserves, and by half time found themselves one nil down thanks to a give away penalty. once the second half started, ACR took control and were creating
the better chances, and ran out easy winners, thanks to a Joe Murphy hat trick. Our thanks to Langham, for their hospitably and for a good work out.
After picking up the gear, it was a quick dash back, to Ford Lane, to see the first team giving Bergholt a hard old game. Taking the game to Bergholt and creating some good chances, ACR were unable to crack open a mean
defense. On the half hour mark, Bergholt had the break that there football was always going to deliver. A quick break through the middle, and a chip over the advancing home keeper, saw the visitors go one nil up. Just before
the half time breaks, Bergholt were fortunate not to give away a penalty, with what look like a clear push in the back, inside the box, but play continued. Half Time  ACR  0 Bergholt 1.
The second half started very much in the same vein, with again ACR taking the game to Bergholt, and reducing the visitors to breakaways. For all the home sides huffing and puffing Bergholt seem content to let the home side
play the football, and get body's behind the play, but were able to breaks everything up once ACR got into the dangerous areas. As the game was drawing to a conclusion, Bergholt seem content just to kick the ball anywhere,
just to run the clock down, but right at the end, they managed to cause a bit of havoc in in the home sides penalty area, which resulted in a penalty being awarded to the visitors, but Anthony Orierdon was equal to the task
by making a brilliant save to his right hand side. With that the final whistle went, and that was the first fixture of the 2011/12 season over and done with, and the visitors claiming all three points. Full Time ACR 0 Bregholt 1.
So a new season is up and running, and once again yours truly will be out and about, with all the latest news and views, from the reserves, hoping to go one better this season, by beating last seasons runners up spot, and
finishing champions. So if you way to keep up to date, keep logging on to the website, and join me for what promises to be a exciting ride. Its Game On, Football is Back Again.
