This game signalled the end of an era for Ambleside Hornets but they certainly signed off in style.
The opening 10 minutes saw the Hornets take the game to the Barracudas & create a number of good chances but the visitors also threatened several times on the break themselves.
With such a tight start to the game nobody could have envisaged the goal fest that was to follow.
After another surging Hornets attack the deadlock was broken with a superbly taken goal that opened the floodgates.
Non stop Hornets pressure resulted in 2 more goals before half time and this seemed to break the Barracudas stubborn resistance.
In the second half the Hornets somehow maintained their tremendous work rate as every player from back to front contributed to a superb team display.
The 4th goal came via a penalty that was lashed into the net giving the keeper no chance.
Bulkington dug deep as they battled to stop wave after wave of Hornets attacks and although the score line was added to 3 more times the Barracudas never stopped working as they tried to get a consolation goal.
So the last ever Ambleside Hornets game ended in a 7-0 win.
However , of more importance than the result was the way the boys worked tirelessly for each other and stood together as a real ‘ Band of Brothers ’.
It has been a great privilege for us to watch the boys work hard and constantly improve as they have grown into one of the top sides in the town earning the respect of all their opponents along the way.
Well done Ambleside Hornets â€" WE ARE SO VERY PROUD OF YOU ALL.
