Amesbury fought from two goals down to earn a valuable point against high flying Brockenhurst. The game was a niggly match played on a heavy surface. Brockenhurst started well and had three chances in the first five minutes. A Richard Morse free kick easily gathered up by Danny Harrison, a Simon Quirke placed shot that just missed the far post and Warren Kenna blasted over from the edge of the box. Amesbury's took time to settle and their first chance was on 18 minutes when Craig Wheeler crossed for Tom Western who headed over. Not surprisingly, it was Brock who took the lead. On 22 minutes a free kick into the box was cleared only as far as RICHARD MORSE who swept home the loose ball. Nathan Jones had an effort from the edge of the box saved by Brock keeper Callum Maher and Ben Pryce had a free kick in a good position which was blocked by the wall but it was difficult to see where an Amesbury goal was going to come from as the teams went in for half time. Amesbury started brightly in the 2nd half , a Ben Pryce cross didn't quite get to Tom Western as a defender managed to deflect the ball off his head for a corner as Western challenged. On 56 minutes the Blues had a good chance to equalise when Craig Wheeler got in a good position but as he was about to shoot a Brock defender put in an excellent challenge to deny the Amesbury winger. As often heappens in football, defence turned into attack and MARK BARKER ran on and shot giving Harrison no chance and put Brock well in control at 2-0. Amesbury never give up and on the hour a Nathan Jones free kick was headed at goal by younger brother Ryan Jones but Maher made a good save to push the ball over the bar for a corner. Amesbury made a substitution when Toni Camilleri replaced Lee Bartlett and immediatley they got back into the game. A Nathan Jones cross from the left was perfect for TYLER BROCKWAY to head into the top corner. Brock tried to increase their lead but a Barker effort was easily saved by Harrison and then from a corner Ben Pryce headed a goalbound effort off the line to keep the Blues in the match. Eight minutes from time Danny Harrison took a needlessly given away free kick, substitute Darren Crook dumied his header and left it to run through to NATHAN JONES in space and he smashed the ball home to equalise. Amesbury nearly completed a remarkable comeback when three minutes later a Nathan Jones free kick found Darren Crook's head but callum Maher was able to make a good save to keep the scores level.
