A hat trick within 12 minutes by Jack Satterley set Champions-elect Verwood Town on their way to a comfortable 8-0 victory over Amesbury Town at a Wet and Windy Potterne Park. It started badly for the Blues when the defence failed to clear and Satterley had space to fire home at the near post with just 8 minutes gone, 3 minutes later Satterley fought off a challenge by Ben Pryce and lobbed the ball into the far corner and the goal stood despite strong protests that the Amesbury skipper had been fouled. If there was doubt over that goal then a minute larter there was no dispute when a mis-timed challenge by Tom Wheeler saw the Blues concede a penalty and Satterley stepped up to complete his hat trick in a lightening quick 12 minute spell. Verwood were on the march and hard to stop by a tired looking Amesbury side. Delaney headed over a corner, Gajic headed wide and a long ball forward by keeper Lynch found Satterley initally getting the better of Tom Wheeler before the defender recovered with a superb challenge to stop the Verwood striker causing more damage. Ben Kelly then had a chance shot wide after another Verwood corner until the inevitable 4th came. Following a good build up the ball eventually found its way to Charlie Gajic who found room to place a fine header into the corner of the net with 35 minutes on the clock. Verwood weren't finished and a minute later another fine move saw Gajic run through and slot home for number 5. Five minutes before half time it was 6 when a free kick on the edge of the box was slotted home by Mike Haskall past a rather gaping wall. Amesbury do not give up and 4 minutes from time they had their first chance when good play by Tyler Brockway set up Craig Wheeler and he flashed a shot which just missed the far post. Just before the half time whistle verwood's Luke Homer, who scored a hat trick at Bonnymead earlier in the season, turned and shot but Harrison was equal to it. The 2nd half started much the same as the first. A cross from the left saw Haskall head over the bar, and a good build up ended when a Dan Evans whipped cross saw haskall try a cheeky back heel flick go wide. On the hour it was 7-0 . A Verwood corner was headed goal bound by Haskall and the headed clearance off the line was deemed to be behind the goal line by the assistant who took an eterntiy to decide the goal was good. Two minutes later it was 8 Satterley got down the right and his cross found Homer whose shot was parried well by Harrison but the luck was with the home side and the ball squirmed into the net. On 69 minutes Nathan Barnett set up Tyler Brockway as the Blues looked for a consolation. His shot was saved by Lynch. A minute later Satterley shrugged off a challenge and fired goal wards and Harrison saved well. The play was now end to end as Tyler Brockway took a quick free kick and set up debutant Chris Ward but his shot cleared the bar and then Craig Wheeler headed over his own bar after a goalmouth scramble saw haskall heading toward an open goal. Substitute Matt dear also tried to get in on the Verwood goal action when he shot over but Tom Wheeler then had a chance for the Blues when he shot from the half way line but the keeper was alert to the danger. With 8 minutes remaining Homer played a superb ball to Satterley whose early shotr was just wide of the post and 4 minutes later another smart move, typical of Verwood's good understanding between a side that has been together for a few years, saw Homer and Evans combine well and set up Haskall but his header was wide and his chance for a hat-trick disappeared with it.
