‘Blues get the Blues’
AMESBURY TOWN U-18 (0) 0-5 (1) HIGHWORTH TOWN U-18
After a promising start the Blues fell apart in the last quarter of the match to go down to a decent Highworth side. With manager Mark Johnson absent, assistant Billy Poole took charge. Though the visitors looked strong and quick the Blues defended bravely and restricted Highworth to just one goal in the first period as keeper Sam Foskett was beaten by a lob after 26 minutes. Though the home side were creating little up front they managed to hold out until the 68th minute when Highworth scored their second goal. Foskett went down bravely to stop a fierce shot but the rebound fell kindly to a Highworth forward who crashed the ball home. There followed a period in which the Blues began to play with more belief and substitute Ross Ferguson rattled the visitors goal with a good strike. Then Ferguson and Lewis Burns both seemed to go for the same ball and the goal attempt went over the bar. In the final ten minutes however, heads seemed to go down and the Blues defence was cruelly exposed as Highworth scored three more times to complete a somewhat flattering score line.
