History

2001 - Antonine Football Club Formed

Established 2001
Co –Founders: Willie Gibbons & Alistair MacColl
First Club Colours: Orange /Black and Yellow / Black
Reason for Club Name: It was where we trained and played our games.

Reason it was started was that there was nowhere for Primary 1's of that year to participate in organised football therefore sought venue then advertised in the 3 local schools. Response was slow for the first weeks but gradually numbers grew and at present we have over 150 kids participating in football on a regular basis. We were fortunate to have parents who helped with sponsorship and fundraising and were afforded the services of Ann Dolan who became the treasurer and who took the money in before every session. As the club grew it became clear that we needed more coaches and James Hynes, Stephen McKenna and Ronnie Crawford came on board. Due to work commitments and the progression of his boys football we have lost the services of both Jim and Stevie although both are visible from time to time at the Antonine. We now have teams participating in Paisley & District and West Dunbartonshire Football ranging from 5 year old to under 14's. We have been successful in promoting a number of players to the next level, being Pro Youth, with a number of senior clubs ( Celtic, Rangers, St. Mirren, Hamilton and Falkirk). We also have scouts attending games on a weekly occurrence.
