ALFONSO GENCO


Alfonso Genco is the manager of Apollo Football club

Alf's second stint as Apollo manager started in November 2007 after a very successful previous spell. Alf is always leading and pushing the team forward with his never say die attitude, he is a truly inspirational manager to play under.

Alfie is a great all round footballer whether played at centre back in the heart of the defence or centre midfield/wing he always gives 100%, he has a great understanding of the game and is technically a very accomplished footballer with great experience.

Alfonso Genco is Apollo Football clubs most succesful manager in the history of the club, he has guided the team to 2 promotions, taking the team from struggling in division 3, onto promotion to the highest division possible, the EDSFL division 1. Alf has also won 3 cup competitions in the EDSFL, Jubilee cup, Brigg cup & George Gyer cup. These statistics make Alf one of the most succesful current managers in the Edmonton & District Sunday football league, Alf has also lead Apollo to the final of the senior league cup, the most prestigious cup in the history of the league.

As a manager Alf has excellent man management skills and knows how to get the best out of his players, not only when they are playing well but also when the team need a lift or a kick up the backside Alf always knows the right thing to say at the right time to have a positive effect on his squad, great at spotting tactical deficencies in his opponents, always does his home work on opposition and prepares his team to the absolute last detail to equip them to win the game.
