
Attenborough were founded in 1946/47 as a church team and were originally called Attenborough St Mary's. They played in the Long Eaton and District League for many years but in the early 1970's Attenborough were re-named as Attenborough FC and joined the Central Alliance, managed by John Sheriff the team won the league in 1975 going through the season unbeaten. Boro then joined the Midland League which had formed a new Division 1 to supplement the senior division, this league only lasted a short while and from this the Central Midlands league was formed which Boro joined for many seasons until the cost of officials and travelling became too expensive and they joined the Notts Alliance which then became the league they are in today the Notts Senior League.
