History

When It All Started
23 Sep 2009

Aylesbury Town Football Club was formed in June 1998 and today, is recognised as one of the leading and most successful Junior Football Clubs in Buckinghamshire. This was endorsed in May 2006, by the Football Association who awarded Aylesbury Town Football Club with the FA Charter Standard, which means that the club is recognised by the FA in offering the best available coaching and administration and fully supports all aspects of Child Protection, a magnificent achievement for the Club.

In the 2007/08 season, we provided football opportunities for over 230 boys and girls, playing in age group teams from under 7’s through to under 18’s. Since its inception just three years ago, our Saturday morning club TOWNies has gone from strength to strength as part of our ongoing commitment to developing junior football from an early age. We now have almost 60 children regularly attending this initiative and many already representing ATFC in our Under 7, Under 8 and Under 9 age group teams.

At the beginning of the 2007/08 season, we joined forces with Aylesbury Vale (now known as Aylesbury FC) senior football club in an arrangement that would offer Town players when reaching the ages of 17 and 18 an opportunity to progress to a higher level of football – an arrangement that would feed Vale with local talent. In our first season, the partnership has already proved worthwhile with five formerAylesburyTownboys having already appeared for Aylesbury Vale first team and a number also representing Aylesbury Vale at Reserve and Youth team level. Vale who play in the Molten Spartan South Midlands Football League – Premier Division, are delighted with the standard of the talent coming through.

We now have more than 30 managers and coaches associated with our teams, trained to minimum expected Level One FA Coaching Certificate, which encompasses the Emergency First Aid Certificate and a Child Protection workshop. All managers, coaches and regular helpers are also checked against the Criminal Records Bureau in accordance with Child Protection Regulations applied to involvement in junior sport.

At the end of each season, the Club hosts its own Six-a-Side Football Festival, widely regarded as one of the best in the South of England, attracting a staggering 168 teams this year. The Club also celebrates the contributions and achievements of all the players with a Presentation Event. This year as part of our 10th Anniversary celebrations we have fittingly returned to Aylesbury Civic Centre, to again recognise the achievements of all players registered with Aylesbury Town Football Club.

The Club’s success to date and future plans are built upon the foundations of being a family Club, with the children’s welfare, education, personal development and enjoyment being the priority. We aim to ensure that everyone associated with AylesburyTown enjoy their participation in football and celebrate playing this wonderful game.

The Club's policy document is written as a commitment to the aims and objectives of the club, which are as follows:
To encourage and promote the development of junior and youth football in a safe environment, within the community of Aylesbury.
The club will strive to provide an opportunity for players of both sexes to enjoy and participate in football at all age levels and at the highest possible level.
We will endeavour to facilitate the provision of the best playing amenities and equipment available to us in line with the growth of sport in Aylesbury.
Looking Ahead
In 2004/05 we outlined our short term aims. These aims were designed to be achievable within three years and were all achieved by May 2006, with the award by the FA of our Charter Mark status. We reported on our achievements in last years programme and can be viewed on our web site.
This season the committee’s focus has this season, been three fold……….
To continue to feed from TOWNIes our junior teams with new players and also enable the continuation of team development from the Under 7 age group.
To explore the introduction of establishing a girls/ladies football section at varying age groups
For the first time, we have two teams that have reached the Under 18 level, the most senior level for junior and Youth football development. Our aim is to establish a continuing development programme for these players into senior football with the introduction of an Aylesbury Town FC adult playing section.
