Warton on form at the Bank!‏

BAE Warton FC (4) 5 - (0) 1 Ashton on Ribble

Starting Line Up: Bob, JB, Stu, James, Pete, Adie, Phil, Rob, Lee, Guiseppe and Mal Subs: Marco, Jason, Mark.

This was one of the best performances so far and on a nice "flat" pitch we played Ashton off the park. First goal came when Pete played a ball down the line for Lee to take past the defence and onto the bye-line for a pull back pass across goal, Mal pulled off a nice step-over for Adi to fire into the bottom corner. Shortly after Ashton advanced through the middle and put a ball through our defence, whilst Bobby was putting his left hand in the air to call offside (which is wasn't), the Ashton player got a shot away towards the top right corner, it helped Bobby having his hand in the general direction of the ball but his super quick reaction put the ball over the top for a corner, top save!!!

Minutes later we won a free-kick just over the half way line, JB curled a cross into the box and Guiseppe timed his run perfectly to header past the keeper.

Third goal came from an attack down the right wing with Adi, Mal and Guiseppe who managed to get a shot away, Ashton Keeper got in the way but Lee followed in nicely to took it into the back of the net. Fourth goal came from Adi feeding Rob in for a run past half the Ashton team straight into the box, Rob was brought down in the box for the 3rd time this season but this time the ref pointed straight to the spot. Mal took the pen and slotted it calmly into the bottom left corner.

Half time whistle and a 4 goal lead kept spirits and effort high.

Second half and we played the sensible game and stayed solid to keep the advances of Ashton to minimum. JB subbed for Mark and shortly after Marco came on for Guiseppe followed by Jason for Pete.

We carried on battling which saw many of the Ashton advances being turned over and created our own advances down both sides linking well with the forwards. We won a corner which Mal curled into the box but Ashton could only half clear and Marco rose like a salmon to head the ball over the despairing keeper and flailing defenders legs.

5 minutes left and Ashton advance down our left wing saw them win a corner. The corner was curled into the 6 yard box, Stu called his ball but some how managed to tangle his legs together and was unable to jump to clear the ball, leaving the tall Ashton player to nod into the back of the net.

5-1 and a good solid win to take us to 6 points and +3 goal difference, our best start for a season for as long as I can remember.

I could literally pick out mulitple key moments for everyone on the pitch which kept us on top throughout the game, however I think everyone would agree that Lee was Man of the Match.
