Club History |
Originally named Cannons FC and then Anchor Cannons, the team originates from a Friday night five-a-side session which started to attract a mass of interest and soon turned in to an 11-a-side session.
It was then in the summer of 2002 that this group of football crazy delinquents was asked to merge with the newly formed Cannons Fitness Centre football team in the Chesterfield Sunday League Division 6.
The first season together in 2002/03 brought many joys and many more arguments as the team enjoyed two excellent cup runs and managed to finish in a respectable position. Off field though the team suffered with a lack of backing from its corporate namesake and continuous health and safety issues in ‘The Racecourse’ public house, especially with the food (anyone remember swampy’s famous herbal stew). However the Christmas doo was one to remember and the end of season awards night was a success with the impressive Jamie Van Der Vice scooping the ‘Player of the Year’ award and Paul Leverton the 'Manager Player'.
In 2003/04 the club changed its name to Anchor Cannons FC and based itself from ‘The Anchor’ pub in Brampton. Having learned a lot from its first season the team got off to a great start in the league before dropping down the table after Xmas. This slump brought about the departure of joint Managers Kelvin Wilson and Dave Jones. End of season awards went to former Poland schoolboy International Liam ‘Dembski’ Wajs and reliable fullback Chris ‘Sniffer’ Harrison.
A new dawn a new era for 2004/05 as new manager Jamie Van Der Vice was appointed and the club split all ties from Cannons and became ‘Brampton Anchor FC’. Now in its third season of existence the expectations are high, with promotion a must. The club and all associated with it would also like to thank the continous hard work and effort from its Secretary Billy Bunting. It’s fair to say that if it wasn’t for Billy the club would have folded by now.
2004/05 proved to be a successful season for the new Gaffer - Jamie Van Der Vice who was true to his word and gained promotion as Division 6 runners up. Van Der Vice brought in Lee G as assistant manager and the duo worked wonders with the playing staff, introducing many new and effective training methods. BAFC phenomena also exploded throughout the town and worldwide with the website quickly becoming one of the most visited sites per week on the Webitsmart network. The fan base of the club is now enormous and merchandise is being exported to all four corners of the globe along with an increase in attendances and sponsorship deals. The club is now in to its first year of a five year plan to gain successive promotion to Division 1, and BAFC are showing all the signs of making this happen. Super Fan Newie also picked up an ASBO award.
2005/06 Season started very brightly for BAFC who up to the Christmas period occupied a healthy top four position. However a loss form and injuries hampered the teams progression in what proved to be a very competitive division with the top 6 constantly beating each other. The team finished mid way come the close of a hard season which was very much a learning curve following the previous seasons promotion. Highlight of the season was the teams day out in Belper during the Derbyshire Junior Cup run. End of the year awards went to

Brett Turner - Golden Boot d Jamie Alberts - Most Improved Player.
Season 06/07 brough about an excellent 10 game un-beaten run with the team gaining 28 points out of a possible 30. BAFC claimed the runners up spot on goal differnce behind league winners Wingerworth Barley Mow. This was the second promotion in two years under Jamie Vice's leadership and hopefully not the last.
