In the Beginning

In 2001 when Barrhead B.C. distributed flyers for a new under 9s team we received over 100 phone calls and 85 children came to Crossmill in Barrhead for trials. Half of those attended were born in 1993 and we felt we had no alternative to form an Under 8s team to accommodate the younger players.

We still have a lot of the players in the club that came down to the trials on the first day.

At first we had two seven a side teams but quickly formed another team for more players that joined shortly after the original group.

When we formed the "R" 11-a-side team we also formed the "Y" team. This allowed us to keep all the players within the club and even find places for other players wishing to join at this age group.
