The Barry Town Supporters Committee is its own registered, independent, non-profit community enterprise; formed to safeguard, fund and manage the 100-year-old Barry Town football team.
The group is 100 per cent financially separate from Barry Town AFC Ltd. the company and clubhouse, and took on the full responsibility for the football side several years ago now.
As with last season, the Barry Town Supporters Committee is using their status as the registered primary user of Jenner Park to enter the Barry Town team in the 2012/13 MacWhirter Welsh League and Welsh Cup competitions.
We felt that it was important to stress this distinction in the public forum, as the Barry Town Supporters Committee is dependent on sponsorship, donations, fundraising and advertising revenue and thus it should not be assumed that there is any sort of bar or business backing this endeavour, as there is none.
The £275 per match (and floodlighting costs, etc) for the hire of Jenner Park is being met by the fans. The alternative – inexistence – was unthinkable, even more so with the team’s centenary season on the horizon.
We push on, and would like to reassure the people of Barry that their entry fee on matchdays will not be subsidising a business, but will be going to the BTSC to keep the team playing football.
Individuals or local businesses who would like to assist in any way are encouraged to get in touch.
Finally, we would like to thank everyone who has given their invaluable support to an often challenging project. Every morsel of help and awareness really goes a long way.
