The History Of The Club
07 Jul 2007

The existence of Bartley Green Football Club can be traced back to as early as 1929, though in its present form it has been running since 1985.

The club headquarters in Jiggins Lane was built in 1960, thanks to the land being donated by local farmer Tom Shaylor, a great supporter of the Bartley Green village community, and the pitch was purchased in 1972.

Playing Sundays, initially in the South Birmingham League, the club enjoyed a great deal of success winning a number of trophies as well as championship titles. Joining the festival League in 1992. Bartley achieved promotion to the Premier Division in season 1994/95.

At the start of the 96/97 season, it was decided to form a junior side to also play in the Festival League starting in Division Three, Steady progress had been made by the A side, with promotion gained in 98/99, 2001/02 and again in 2004/05.

In order to progress and pursue a higher standard of football, the decision was taken for the senior side to move to the Saturday scene, and entry into the Midland Football Combination. Division Two Champions 2005-06 and a Smedley Crooke Cup double gave us the ideal start back in saturday football. Then winning Midland Comb Div 1 2006-07 as well as the sunday section winning the Festival League Premiership for the first time in thirteen years. This has made all the hard work put in by everyone past and present, all that more worthwhile.
We shall not sit on our 'laurels',and know that this season 2011/12,will be another test in Bartley Green FC's committment for more silverware.
Preparations are being made for a higher standard of football and facilities within the club structure, and that young talent within the Bartley Green area is not ignored,as we have now moved our under 18 side into our Sunday setup, who have now moved into The Redditch & Central Warwick Premier Division.
