Club Commitments
Basildon United are a club striving to be the club representing the local community at Mens, Ladies and Youth team sections.
The First Team:
Basildon United's first team currently play in the Essex Senior League and have won the Essex Senior League a record 5 times, The Essex Senior League is in Step 5 in the national Football Pyramid.
The first team also compete in the F.A. Vase competition as well as other prestigious cup competitions including the Essex Senior Cup, Essex Thames-side Trophy and the East Anglian Cup.
The Reserves:
Basildon United has a reserve team competing in the Essex & Herts Bordering Counties Premier League, which is a top quality Intermediate League.
Womens:
The Basildon United Women's team will play in Division One of the Essex County Woman's League.
Under 18's:
Its U18 Youth team play in the Eastern Junior Alliance League.
The clubs new set-up allows all the players to develop at different levels and the opportunity to play top senior amateur football and to progress onwards.
The 2007/2008 Season:
This season has been an exreamly hard your for the Bees, who stuggled to find there rhythm all year.
Positioning in the Leagues:
First Team finish 16th out of 17
Reserves finish 17th out of 17
Under 18s are 1st out of 7 but there is still games to play in their league
Club Contacts:
The club has contacts with local professional clubs and can further the ambitions of players and assist them to fulfil their goals.
This has been amply exhibited in the case of Michael Kightly a former player who played in our first team in the 2001/02 season, and has recently progressed to the Wolverhampton Wanderers first team, via Southend United and Grays Athletic, for a six figure fee.
Gardiners Close (The HIVE)
Capacity 4,000 approx with 100 Seating in Main Stand.
Ground History:
Gardiners Close, was opened by then West Ham United players Geoff Hurst and Jimmy Greaves and the first match was played against West Ham United in front of a crowd of 4,000.
Basildon are hoping to move to a new ground in the near future though a site has not been chosen yet. The Gardiners Close site is wanted for redevelopment by Basildon Council so therefore sadly cannot be developed on by the club. Within the Grounds there is a bar, decent size car park, small training facilities, changing rooms, and Main stand with too covered standing area either side. In the 2007/2008 season the average attendance was 40 which was up 49.3% on 2006/2007 season.
