2004 / 2005 - Our first Season of League Football
On the back of winning the BAWA Clubs Inter Cup as "The Donkeys" in the summer of 2004, BAWA Athletico was formed joining the Bristol & Wessex Sunday League in Division Two for the 2004 / 2005 Season.
After a hard but good season we gained promotion in our first season to Division One.
September 2005 - Our First year for having a sponsorship deal.
El puerto, a high class Tapas Restaurant kindly supplied the team with a full kit.
2005 / 2006
Having been promoted we had high aspirations for this season but not everything went our way. Hit by many injuries to key players and bad form we struggled but managed to stay in Division One.
2006 / 2007
BAWA Athletico finished 4th from bottom in The Bristol & Wessex League, Division One with stats as follows:
Played 22
Won 7
Drawn 0
Lost 15
Goals F 44
Goals A 100
Goal Diff - 56
Points 21
The results were mixed and could have been a whole lot better if so many players hadn't gone AWOL around Christmas and there after.
Full details on the season results and reports can be found in the "Season Archive 2006 / 2007"
The season was summed up at our AGM in May when Shaun said despite having 32 Registered Players from Christmas onwards we struggled to field a quality team and even had to forfeit one match.
New Kit - Competition Winner
Ian entered a competition with Carling.com an managed to win the club a new kit.
2007 / 2008
After a hard season in The Bristol & Wessex League, Division One it was decided by the majority of remaining club members that it would be in the clubs best interest to look for a fresh challenge.
After a great deal of deliberation it was finally decided to join the Bristol Regional Sunday Football League, otherwise the club would have folded.
So from September 2007 BAWA Athletico began playing in Division Four of the Bristol Regional Sunday Football League .
Finishing 3rd behind Longwell Green Sports Sunday & Lloyd Utd, we were still promoted to Division Three for the 2008 / 2009 campaign.
The Club were also awarded the BRSL "Sportsmanship Trophy".
September 2008 - A new kit sponsorship deal.
With the setting up of our Reserve side there was the need for a new kit, the purchase of which has been kindly sponsored by "Kentmaster" who are a leading manufacturer of cutting equipment, we would like to thank "Kentmaster" for their support, and also Shaun for his efforts in clinching the deal.
The 2008 / 2009 season finished with the First Team doing the double by winning both The BRSL Division Three Title, and winning the Three Lions League Cup.
As a result the First Team were promoted two divisions to Division One for the 2009 / 2010 Season.
