| BAYSIDE 01's Blast |
A fantastic performance by all involved. Vida was the setting for the second meeting this season between Cairneyhill and Bayside Blasts. Bayside had it all to do trying to prove that the new kids on the field could hold there own between the other side in the league. After just two months playing together the blasts showed everyone on Saturday that they were a well oiled team who could have easily been playing together for years rather than months.
Cairneyhill started the game off with a attack on goal straight away. The blasts held the defence strong with Jack causing the striker big problems and Sean covering the goal just in case. Blasts continued to hold strong with every attack being denied as soon as they came close to the box full credit had to go to the defence the attacks kept coming and nothing finding it way through to the back of the net. Bayside were now on the attack with Jack passing the ball up field to Josh and Josh sliding his way passed the defence to swing a cross right across goal just awaiting a strong head from Kerr, and it would be in the back of the net for sure. As the ball passed the front of the goal, and with the coaches holding there breath it was just a little to high over the bar it went by mare centimetres a great effort by Kerr. Cairneyhill broke quickly again with another five shoots on target within five minutes and the defence and the keeper causing them all kinds of trouble. The half time whistle came with the score still tied. The first half was full of great football and the Bayside players should be proud of their performance cause it was fantastic.
Bayside started the second half with a good strike at goal by Harris just missing the back of the net by inches. Cairnyhill continued to firer shoots at the goal every time they had the ball. With six well steamed passes through the centre of play it looked like Bayside were going to hit the back of the net first. Sean hammered the shoot at the goal and a fantastic save by the goal keeper Bayside denied again. At the other end of the field Cairnyhill tried there luck with a thunderous shoot to the bottom left corner just finger tips away from being saved they broke the dead lock with the first goal. Bayside took centre and tried to come back with a couple of good shoots on target but unable to make the chances count. Cairneyhill went on to score another two goals. With just three minutes remaining Bayside were trying anything and giving everything to try and find the back of the net only to be denied by the crossbar and the post. The last shoot of the game came from Bayside with a crippling shoot off the volley into the top left corner but with a amazing save from the goal keeper to knock it over the bar. With the disappointment heard around the field the final whistle was blown with a fantastic sound of applause from the spectators. A great performance from all and 110% giving by the blasts the coaches could not be happier with there sheer git and determination to get a goal. Well done all
