Well, a season of two halves! Having joined the Sceptre League in Div 4, we thought we would be more competitive.........wrong! It wasn’t till our tenth game, that we finally registered a win albeit an emphatic 4-0 away win at Militia.

To be fair as it turned out, we didn’t play anyone in the bottom half till December and 5 of those first 9 were against the two teams that were promoted but we didn’t know that at the time and confidence ebbed away.

Changes had to be made this season which saw Lee Mason taking over as fulltime keeper and Jonesy pulling his boots back on as a striker in some games. Phil Guyatt became a mainstay at centre back but had a selection of partners!

New players had to be bedded in and all had good spells on and off with the exception of Jack Pearman who was involved in all games. I was pleased with the overall squad as we managed to cover when various players were injured, suspended or away somewhere.

We lost in both cups at the first round stage, first away to Castle Rangers 4-2 though we really had a lack of players that day. In the other cup we had to play Hollandiers who won every game they played and every time they played us it was 3-1 to them.

The last ten games of the season were a lot better and we managed 5 wins and a draw from them dragging us clear of relegation. We finished with 4 wins from our last 5 games.

How nice would it be if we could start next season the way we usually finish a season?!!!
