07 - 08 Disappointment

The season started very slow. 2 games in we lost to top of the table Carling Crusaders 7-1, playing with 9 men.

Things were getting desperate, talk of the club folding was rife and heads were dropping. Football was just not being enjoyed at this stage.

November rolled round and we found ourselves playing a cup game against Progress Utd. Shaun managed to bring James Hilton along, a player who the club desperately needed.

Not only did we gain Hilts, but also a new Manager, Troy. This eased the pressure off Howard who then ressumed his player status.

With Troy in charge, new recruits Dan Gilbey, Gary Tyson & Aaron Irvive also joined the club.

A 2-2 draw against Trinity saw a change in fortune which was something positive to build on for the rest of the season.

Christmas was soon upon us and we played fellow strugglers Chateau in a 6 pointer. We managed to come out on top thanks to a 3-1 win.

This was also matched by an impressive win against FC Astro in the League Cup.

Confidence was high going into the New Year.

Wins against FC Astro in the League saw the introduction of Nick Eastabrook and his debut was special. Nick scored 2 and set up 2 as Bellevue run out 5-3 winners.

This was followed by an impressive 4-3 win against Plough & Sail, in which Paul Robinson marked his debut with 2 goals in 20 minutes after coming on as a second half sub.

Febuary we thrashed Southend Black Cats 6-0, and found ourselves still in the League Cup, eventually being knocked out by AFC Hurricanes who went on to win Section C.

March we faced Chateau again, this game would pretty much confirm who stayed up, Chateau sneeking a late goal to run out 4-3 winners in this thrilling encounter.

Bellevue did not give up though, beating Haystack Dreamboys 6-2.

This meant that if Chateau got a draw against FC Astro this would confirm our relegation. This game ended 2-2.

After a hard, long season the lads were simply gutted. The last game against Spread Eagle Casuals was never played as April came and went and pitches were unavailable.

Thankfully though the League realised the team was on the up and agreed to reinstate us to League 5 for the forthcoming season.
