ABOUT THE CLUB

We are one of the biggest and the oldest junior football clubs in the Wythenshawe area founded when the local clergy, a few local people and Derek Austin formed Benchill Celtic JFC in 1989. We started in 1988 with one team and have grown to a club seven with age groups, which we are still expanding.

At present we have over 15 FA qualified coaches and managers involved as well as various parents of the children that play. We have a Management Committee of 15 people (all with enhanced C.R.B. checks and long term commitment to the club) that take care of club business on a regular basis.

Our President/Secrtary and founder member is Derek Austin; Chair is Dave Dale and our Treasurer Colette Austin and Club Welfare Officer is Tracey Whittaker who like every other BCJFC volunteer dedicates a lot of time to the club.

We have around 130 players who all live within the local community and we have teams from Under 6 through to Under 13. All our teams play in the Timperley and District Junior Football League and we are well known throughout Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

We are affiliated to the Cheshire County Football Association and are insured through SBJ Sports Insurance Brokers as recommended by the County. We frequently enter their county cup competitions and our teams do well in their respective League Divisions winning the odd trophy along the way.

The club is working towards the FA Charter Standard Youth Club award and as a club we have adopted and ensure all our activities comply with our Child Protection Policy, Equity Policy, Code of Conduct and Constitution. These documents can be viewed here.

Benchill Celtic JFC's aim to ensure that everyone in our community has the opportunity to be involved within our club and that all those involved in the club develop and enjoy being part of Benchill Celtic JFC.
