1st Team

Berrow First XI play their games in the Somerset County League Division 2 West.

The Team has had a highly successful period stretching back to the Season of 2000/01 when they were still plying their trade in Division 2 of the Weston Super Mare and District League, this season was the springboard for what has been a meteoric rise, seeing 3 championships, 2 cup wins and a promotion.

Back in 2000, then manager Brian Read vowed to take the club to the County League, many laughed this off but Read saw the potential he had in a handful of young, but extremely talented players, aged from 16 - 23.

That season saw Berrow win their first ever piece of silverware in the charity cup seeing off Selkirk United 4 - 0 in the final. This was quickly followed by the division 2 championship which was sealed with 6 games left.

The following season in the much tougher division 1 Berrow hoped for stability and to retain their place, what they got was a dramatic Championship sealed on the last but one game of the season when rivals Blagdon failed to win their penultimate game.

The aim the following season was to repeat the previous seasons feat and finish as champions again and secure promotion to the County League.
The finish was no less dramatic than the previous season with Berrow needing to win their final game of the season against Westland United to retain the title on a far superior goal difference. With a nervous Berrow being held at 4-4 in the dying moments Berrow produced 2 stunning goals to once again break Blagdon's hearts and win the championship. That season also saw Berrow win the Knock out cup at Weston Super Mare F.C. beating Cleeve West Town 2-0 after extra time. They were however undone in their final game, the Atwell shield final where they fell 2-0 again after extra time giving a tired performance against Clarence Park Rangers.

Berrow finished a respectable 6th in their debut season in the county league division 3 a season that saw manager Read step down for personal reasons, he was replaced by then Reserve manager Julian Bowdler who guided the side to promotion in their second season finishing what was in the end a disappointing third place, with inconsistant performances hindering the clubs progress.

With the amalgamation of the 2nd and 3rd divisions Berrow's promotion became defunct and they now compete in the Somerset County League Division 2 West, under the guidance of new manager Neil Punt, who replaced Bowdler who has now emigrated to Australia.

The coming season sees the first team management taken over by the duo of current first team goalkeeper Chris Warner and assistant, former Berrow legend Pete Harris who shall take care of match day proceedings while Warner concentrates on playing. The signs are promising for the coming campaign as the club have pulled off several signings to strengthen the current squad to mount a serious challenge this coming season.
