Report

Probably our last game of the season and what an entertaining and close encounter it was. With the Blues getting home advantage, just down to luck, the away team chose to have the wind behind them in the first half. I think it was a fairly even first 35, with both teams battling hard for possession, and struggling to get a flow to the game, AFC had a couple of corners, and when their striker found some space in the box he slotted home. The Blues kicked off and straight away there seemed to be more focused on getting back into the game. John was holding the ball up and went over from an overly keen defender, Ryan placed the ball and then hit low and hard, it skimmed across a wet pitch, took a deflection and found the back of the net to make it 1-1, Ryan is credited with the goal as it was on target. The rest of the half was fast and furious, but as the half time whistle blew it remained even.
The second half was to see John go central and Edward stem the flow down the wing from the AFC left. John linked up with Ben better which is what the team needed, and before long John found the space and hit an unstoppable shot from 25yrds to but the Blues in front, there were still chances for both teams with Ben not connecting with an excellent defence splitting ball, but he notched up a goal soon after, cutting inside from out right and placing a perfect shot which avoided a diving keeper. 3-1, and the manager decided to try and be as fair as possible and rest three players whilst letting some subs had a run out, problem being AFC pushed really hard to try and get back in it, with the defence only half clearing our old player Mike took a first time shot from distance that found Parky slighty out of position, it hit the post spun and crept in, 3-2 all to play for, after the boys got ten I decided best to close the game down, gave Ben, Ed and Tom instructions to slow the game and keep the ball, which we done well for the last 6-7mins. Man of the match - Ben Ford, just battled for everything, just edged it from a team who played exceptionally well. A great way to end a progressive season, one of change it's fair to say, and I'm very happy to have such a keen bunch of footballers, and very nice lads.
We hope to see Joe back next season too, and also good luck to our old captain Aaron who come down to watch yesterday with his broken leg.
Thank you to all you parents who made the effort to watch in the proper football weather, hope you enjoyed it. Thank you to all the guys that help me, Bryan (the super lineo), Prousey, Phil, Chris and Martin.
We have a end of season friendly match, with the usual, players player, managers player most improved on the 26th May. I will post details on here and let the boys know at training.

Thanks to you lads for doing yourselves proud.
