| SALTBURN ATHLETIC | 2 |
| Billingham Town U16 | 1 |
Both teams started brightly and chances were shared by the two sides and it wasnt long before both keepers were called into action, with josh having to pull off a smart save. The ball was mainly played in midfield as both back lines stood strong and sniffed out most chances formed. Billingham seemed to step it up and winning the lion share of the fifty fifties, putting Saltburn under pressure and really stomping their authority in the game. With town looking most likely to score they really needed to turn possession into goals with Saltburn looking dangerous on the break. It was a quick break from Saltburn that created the best chance so far which saw them hit the post. Even though Billingham were the better team Saltburn were creating the clearer cut chances and just before the half time whistle they scored catching Billingham out with a good finish.
Second half and Saltburns goal seemed to give them a lift and almost doubled there lead early on from a corner which was just scrambled clear. Town heads had seemed to drop and really needed to step it up. Saltburn were the stronger side and only the width of the post saved town from going two nil down. When Billingham got the ball down and played they did look dangerous and went close with a long range freekick which just went over. The game seemed to go flat for a while with both teams not really threatened and this saw towns concentration dip and let Saltburn through again with keeper josh making another good save to keep Billingham in with a chance. The introduction of Ash back in to the game town seemed to lift it and a great ball from Danny was nearly met by the head of griffo. But not for the first time it wasnt long before the ball was at the other end of the pitch with josh once again making a great save from a one on one. The last ten minutes were Billinghams best moments of the game and with Billingham looking a lot better they scored a great goal. With some brilliant play by ash down the right and good vision to pick out Griffo Town equalised. The joy was only short lived with Saltburn not settling for the draw and going on the attack instantly and scored to put the score line to 2-1. A good game from a neutrals point of view but town need to be more consistent if they are to mount a serious title challenge.
Some good performances from the backline and Matty who worked his socks off but I think most would agree that man of the match to Josh for a series of great saves to keep Town in with a chance.
