Report

Billingshurst 4-0 Slinfold
Nick Tilley 3, OG (Chris Osbourne/Chris Kingdon

Billingshurst beat an improving Slinfold by four goals top goal scorer Nick Tilley scoring three and three players claiming the other.

The home team started playing the better football of the two teams creating early chances and finding the Slinfold keeper in fine form, midway through the first half Billingshurst opened the scoring after a Sam Thatcher throw to Mike Burroughs who beat his man and whipped in a quality cross which was met with a quality finish from Nick Tilley, Tilley controlling the ball before firing low into the bottom corner.

More creative play from Billingshurst led to a corner taken by Sam Thatcher and with Chris Osbourne and Chris Kingdon along with the keeper all going for the ball, the keeper under pressure punching the ball into his own net, Osbourne and Kingdon both claiming while Thatcher also claiming he might have touched the ball last.

The end of the first half saw Slinfold apply pressure which ended with keeper Tom Betts being tested twice as complacency crept in to the Billingshurst side.

The second half saw Nick Tilley score two more to complete another hat trick. Firstly after good work from Sam Thatcher which Tilley volleyed in and finally Mike Burroughs picking up his second assist of the afternoon as he crossed for Tilley to glance the ball into the far corner.

Manager Mathew Wroe was pleased with getting 10 league wins of out 10, a second consecutive clean sheet and being able to reward asst Manager Chris Shambrook with an appearance for the final 10 minutes for his good work so far this season.
