Our first season of competitive football saw BISC Juniors Under 9's move back into the BBDJFL and having been placed in Section A we knew we were in for a tough season!
This is exactly how it turned out with the majority of the league all more than capable of taking points off the other sides and this was certainly the case in our own results with some very close games!
We went through the season losing 3 games and drawing another 2 games and of the 13 games we won, 7 of them were by just 1 goal! some may say that we were therefore lucky to finish as Champions, but... the final league table never lies and we more than deserved to win the league!
We were involved in some fantastic games this season against some talented opposition teams and we look forward to renewing our rivalry against them all next season!
Moving on to our boys and I have to say that I am really very proud of them all because they worked their socks off and battled (for the majority of the season) and in the end got what they deserved!
We started the season with a squad of 9 and in the early weeks it wasn't ideal sharing the goalkeeping out amongst 3 or 4 players. Thankfully Joel came along just at the right time and he has developed from rookie into an integral part of our squad who will, I am sure, continue to develop further with the team. Half way through the season we then strengthened our squad further with the addition of Wil who integrated well into the team and proved to be a valuable addition to the squad at just the right time.
Every one of the other 9 boys that were with us from the previous season contributed towards our Championship winnning campaign and each of them developed significantly during the season!
We are training and playing some friendly games during the close season to work on certain aspects of our play and the early signs are very encouraging! We know that next season, as Champions, we will be there to be 'shot at' by all the other teams, but rest assured we'll put up a really good fight!
Thanks to Greg for all his help in coaching the boys this season and a big thankyou as well to all parents and family members for their support and help throughout the season. It is very much appreciated!
As I have said many times, this group of lads can be a real pain in the backside at times but having said that, it continues to be a pleasure to manage them and I look forward to contributing to their further development during the 2011/2012 season and achieving as much as we can!
