Well , Boys
Our First competitive Match of the new season, and we were drawn at home in the Lancashire Cup to Cadley FC . Weather wise compared to the day before the conditions were perfect and what a start you provided us with. We opened the scoring with a header from Joe B , to put us in the lead , but I must admit Cadley even after going a goal down always pressed us and kept their heads up , which I must admit we did later on in the Game . we conceded 2 Goals in the first half , the first was probably a soft goal to concede, but we could not argue with the finish by them for the second. As Cadley did, we kept our heads up and pressed them resulting in a goal for Charlie Wood on his return to the club, he jumped that high to head the second goal some of us thought he had springs attached to the bottom of his boots , he must have leaped 6 foot , ( Peter Crouch eat your heart out ) . We started the second half all square , we had at times to defend resiliently at times , and boy did we do this , our 3 rd Goal came from a superb cross from Charlie on the right, and who was there cool as a Cucumber with a great well placed header Jack Willis . Getting back to the resilient defending , we had to in the last ten minutes really battle hard , as Cadley looked to press us for the equaliser , we all had to work hard to soak up the pressure tackling and chasing every ball. Our Keeper made 2 great saves in the last 5 minutes , and as a team you all worked for each other . Jack Bowley , was a well deserved man of the match , one of, if not the best game I have seen him play , well done Jack but also each and every one of you. You made our Sunday afternoon and sent us home with a smile ,even though there was no footy to watch on Sky .
Great Win Lads , and let’s take this through to the opening game of the season ,away at St Anne’s on Tuesday .
