Match Report

Southend Collegians II

Sat 19 Apr, 2014

Star player: Alisen Bagdas

Alisen Bagdas (3)

Barry Moore (1)

David Rogers (1)

This was another very good victory for BKS Sports!  We started the match very well and put Southend Collegians under pressure from the very first whistle.  We created three excellent chances inside the first ten minutes.  First we were denied by the post and then and excellent save from the Collegians keeper as Alisen Bagdas was twice sent through on goal; and then Sparrow had a good change but his effort on goal narrowly squirmed past the goal.  We continued to play well however and scored our first goal after 15 minutes.  Excellent play on our left hand side involving Robbie, Wardy and Dylan, culminated in Dylan playing a great ball in for Alisen who finished with a lifted shot over the advancing keeper.  Five minutes later we doubled our lead; this time Sparrow was the provider for Ali who again finished very well with a powerfully hit shot.  Unfortunately we had a crazy ten minute spell in the middle of the first half when we completely lost our shape and this hindered our play a little, but we soon recovered and finished the half strongly.

The second half was pretty much one way traffic and we controlled the game very well.  David Rogers scored our third goal of the game when he was too strong for the Collegians defence and converted a Sparrow corner.  Sparrow then got on the score sheet himself when he volleyed home a delightful floated free kick from Robbie Elliott.  Colin Ricketts had to leave the field ten minutes from time after having his face rearranged by the Collegians goalie’s boot in an accidental collision.  Then, with five minutes left on the clock, Ali wrapped up the game and his hat-trick when he finished well after being sent through one-on-one with the substitute goalie.  There were many very good performances for us today but Alisen was voted Man of the Match for an excellent performance and hat-trick of goals on his First Team debut.
