Charlie Gregan (1)
Sat 25 Oct, 2014
Star player: Jamie Chapman
We took a bit of thrashing today, which was a shame as in the first half there was nothing between the two teams. We started the match quite brightly and were in control of the game for long periods. With 20 minutes gone we went close with a good effort from 35 yards by Charlie Gregan but unfortunately his shot just whistled past the post. A couple of minutes later Kenson then saw a shot from distance just clear the top of our cross bar. These were the only real chances of the first half until Kenson took the lead with 38 minutes played. This was a disappointing goal to concede as we pushed far too many men forward for a throw-in deep in the Kenson half, and when we lost possession we were caught out by a swift counter attack that was finished with a neat shot from the edge of the box.
The second half got off to the worst possible start when the opposition scored two goals inside the first five minutes. From that point onwards we were always on the back foot as some of our players that had not played for a while began to tire. Kenson scored a fourth goal soon afterwards but we did then manage to get back into the game and we had a very good 10 minute spell towards the end of the match during which time Charlie scored an excellent goal with a long range free kick and Callum Stoves wrongly had a goal chalked off for off-side. Unfortunately Kenson put the result beyond doubt with a fifth goal five minutes from time and we ended up well beaten. There were a few good performances today, but Jamie Chapman was our stand out player and he was voted Man of the Match.
