This match was an excellent way to finish our season; it was a very enjoyable game in which our player’s positions were drawn from a hat. We had most of our players deployed in very unusual positions but it was incredible how well we adapted. At the start of the game our back three consisted of two strikers and a midfielder but they coped very and all had good games.
In the first half, Leigh Town took full advantage of the slope and wind that were in their favour and they had the better of the chances and possession. They took the lead after 25 minutes when a long throw was flicked on at the near post and then headed home by an on-running player from close range.
We had the majority of the play in the second half as it was our turn to take advantage from the slope and the wind. We equalised after 10 minutes of the re-start when an excellent Robbie Elliott corner was not dealt with by the Leigh Town defence and Paul Miller was on hand to dispatch the loose ball into the back of the net. The remainder of the second half saw both keepers pull of a couple of good saves and in the end the draw was a fair result. This was a good bit of fun today and a great way to finish off what has been a very enjoyable season.
