Match Report

Jamie Campion (1)

Sat 28 Mar, 2015

Star player: Henry Westwood

Rayford Athletic

Good performance to day, shame we could not capitalise on our superior possession in the second half.

This game was unfortunately lost in the opening 25 minutes as we started the match a little slowly and conceded two early goals.  Rayford were very quick out of the blocks today and we had no time and space to get our passing going.  We tried to play too much football in front of our own box and this saw us give possession away cheaply; at the other end of the pitch we were too deep and this gave Rayford’s defence and easy ride in the opening stages of the game.  After we had gone a couple of goals down we seemed to sort out these problems and for the final 15  minutes of the first half we took the upper hand and we were rewarded when Jamie Campion reduced the deficit with a stunning 25 yard strike into the top corner of the net.

We played very well in the second half and dominated possession but unfortunately we lacked a little bit of quality in the final third of the pitch and we were unable to seriously test the Rayford keeper.

Special mention goes to the five Reserve Team players that turned out for us today, all had good games and contributed well to our performance; especially Henry Westwood who was voted Man of the Match for an outstanding second half.
