It was early 2004 when former cricket club centre half Philly 'Nutkins' Swallow and veteran full back Titch 'Yoda' Johnson mentioned getting a team away. After a lot of consideration I got Sacko on board and decided to give it a go. We were running footy cards and predictors long before we even had enough players to be called a team. With a few generous sponsors on board we were finally set to go.
The name Blackhall 'old boys' came from the fact that we had loads of old boys when we 1st kicked off. However, many of these 'old boys' are simply too old so the average age of the squad has dropped considerably.
The 1st season was a great laugh and although we finished 2nd from bottom we achieved our aim of giving a game to lads that thought they couldnt play for the other Blackhall teams.
Last season, our second saw a huge change in player personel. Many of the older players decided it was finally time to hang up their boots so the Old boys became more like the young boys! We slowly improved as the season went on and ended up in 5th position in the league.
The 07/08 campaign is a season where the old boys will be looking for even more improvement and hopefully challenge for silverware. Its been a while since Blackhall took a trophy from the Hartlepool league but we'll be giving it our all to achieve just that. HAWAY THE HAAAALL...
