Managers report 2007/08

Its been a testing season for many reasons. Mainly down to the fact that theres rarely been a week where someone was leaving or been unhappy with something. Also, I dont remember us been able to field the same team twice in a row to often due to work comitments, holidays and alcohol intake. For me personally, iv found it hard to go from running a side thats there to have a laugh at all costs to a side that are capable of winning things. A more serious approach will be in place next year for certain.

Our sole aim at the start of the season was to get promoted. We've achieved that but i still feel we let a great chance of winning something slip away to easily. My mind go's back to the 5-5 draw with goldmine and the cup defeat to rugby when we had half a side out. Still, i cant complain. Its not a bad league and at least we know that it took the best side the second division has seen for many years to pip us to the title.

The buster, subs money, footy cards and domino draws that sned and a couple of others helped me with have been vital in keeping us going. Any club that has to raise most of its own money will tell you its a thankless task but it makes it all worth it when your team gets promoted and we have excellent days out like we did for those county cup days. It also gives me great satisfaction knowing that we raise our own money. It makes it feel like youre hard work has paid off when you achieve something.

The doo's, quiz days and presentations are obviously intended for lads to have a good time but they're also vital as far as getting money in goes to. The race night bought us our new strip and the xmas party put around £100 in the bank. Id like to think a few more turned up for our next doo though.

On the pitch there has been glimpses of how good we can be. Some of the footy has been excellent and our defense, even with us netting 100 goals has been the most pleasing thing for me. We are still a bit lightweight in the middle of the park so im hoping someone can step up and make center midfield their own. The forwards have obviously been top notch. I'll not mention individuals just yet as im gona do a write up of all the players at a later date, as is spiff. Itll be interesting to see how it goes.

As a team we are far to quiet. I want to hear a more vocal Old Boys next season. For the right reasons though, not to have a go or criticise. We need a few more leaders on the pitch. I cant stress enough how important it is to keep talking and encouraging each other.

So to sum up, im fairly happy to have the season over with and have achieved our aim of going up. A little disapointed not to have any silverware up the Hall but we'll give it a fairly crack again next year.

WELL DONE ON GETTING PROMTED LADS AND LETS ALL LOOK FORWARD TO A PREMIER LEAGUE PROMOTION PUSH NEXT SEASON

Statement from new signing Bubbly
Date: 07/06/07
In signing for this Club i have nothing to offer you but blood, toil, tears, sweat and GOALS. Next season we have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many months of struggle and suffering.

You ask, what is our policy? I say it is to battle, scrap and be victorious on every field of play we enter. Fight for every victory with all our might and with all the strength God has given us. That is our policy.

You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is Promotion. Promotion at all costs. Promotion, however long and hard the road may be, for without Promotion there is no glory.

Let that be realized.

I feel entitled at this point, at this time, to call on of all our men and to say, "Come then, let us go forward together with our united strength".
