BOLTON WANDERERS 1 BLACKPOOL FC LADIES 10
The Ladies got off to the best possible start to their 2012/13 campaign with a fine 10-1 victory away atBolton.
The home side however had the best of the opening opportunities with a shot on target gathered by Steph Findlay in the Pool goal and then an effort over. On 10 minutes Findlay did well to parry another effort when 1 on 1 with the Bolton striker with centre - half Sarah Jones on hand to clear the danger. Bolton then had further efforts wide and over with Findlay again gathering a shot. Pool then had efforts from Mac Barlow and April Oldfield with the Bolton keeper saving Lauren Oatley’s header from a Chrissi Bradshaw cross. The breakthrough was to come on 20 minutes with Danni Cross persevering, getting between two defenders for a bottom corner finish. Cross obtained her second with a fine finish from a Barlow through ball. Bolton however were still in the game producing an effort wide and with Findlay gathering an effort from their captain Linny Craig. Their efforts were rewarded on the half hour mark with a headed goal. 2-1. Moments later Cross was to obtain her hat trick, another through ball from Barlow initially forcing a good save from the keeper but finding the back of the net with her follow up.
Emma Perrett then played a good ball through to Oatley but the alert keeper came out to clear, with Findlay then herself alert to gather in front of the advancing Wanderers striker. A corner well won by Gaby May was initially taken behind by the keeper for another corner kick delivered by Clare Kilner and fired home by Oatley. This took the score to 4-1 at the interval.
Into the second half Jones and Barlow both attempted to finish an Oatley corner with Barlow and a Bolton defender both injured in the process Barlow had to be replaced by Mcgill
A 5-1 lead was established as Charlotte Banner finished an Oatley corner.
Oatley then obtained her second of the game rounding the keeper from Perrett’s through ball.
A Bolton effort was safely gathered by Findlay with Oatley then too obtaining her hat trick from a Cross pass.
Sinead Doria and Emma Ambrose then took to the field of play replacing May and Kilner with Ambrose’s first touch resulting in an effort from distance hitting the back of the net.
McGill then had a couple of efforts agonisingly wide but it was Cross who extended the lead to 9-1 reacting first to a throw in. Oatley then got her fourth of the game, an excellent ball from Cross with an equally excellent finish. Oatley then hit the post with McGill forcing the keeper into a stop with her feet.
Final score a 10-1 victory to the Seasiders, an excellent opening day result. They must now turn their attention to the next fixture an away tie against Morecambe. This will be played at Lancaster & MorecambeCollegeon Wednesday 5th September with a 6.30pm kick off.
