Triple-winning Bodmin Town ended their multi-record breaking season at home to Plymouth Parkway who were looking for a victory that would give them 5th place in the final League table, as well as hoping they would be the side to break Bodmin's 100% home record.
Bodmin have made some impressive starts to their matches this season, but they left their quickest start until their last match of the season. Within 75 seconds of the kick-off they had taken the lead. Lewis Reed made rapid progress down the right wing before crossing into the area for CHRIS LUXTON to hit his 29th goal of the season, which in any normal season would probably have got him the Club's top scoring award. Bodmin kept the pressure on their opponents defence in the opening 30 minutes creating several scoring opportunities. In the 9th minute Tom Chambers almost got his third goal in as many League matches as he stabbed the ball goalwards from a corner, only to see the ball cleared from the visitor's goal-line. Two minutes later Neil Slateford came close to adding to his side's tally when Steve Colwell fed the ball through to him on the left of the penalty area, with the ball being deflected by the keeper's leg for a corner to Bodmin. On 31 minutes Parkway had their first effort on target from a snapshot following a cross from the right wing, but Kevin Miller comfortably held onto the ball.
Bodmin enjoyed the majority of play following the break. On the hour Slateford saw a lofted effort from 25 yards, sail just too high. Five minutes later Sam Matthews made progress down the right flank, crossing into the box forcing a defender to concede a corner. A minute later Adam Carter got clear of the defence, his initial shot was blocked by the keeper, but the ball rebound to the Bodmin striker whose second effort then struck a post, only to rebound back to him again, but his third effort went just wide of the target from a narrow angle. After 70 minutes Carter got possession on the right, beating two defenders to find Olly Brokenshire inside the box, his shot curling just wide of the goal. Six minutes later Carter was involved again when he sent Luxton in the clear on the left of the area, he cut inside to fire a shot across the face of the goal which ended up going just the wrong side of the far post. With 10 minutes of the match remaining Matthews sent a cross into the box but no one was able to apply the finishing touch. Two minutes later Bodmin almost grabbed what had seemed to be an inevitable second goal, given all the pressure on the visitor's goal in the second half, as Brokenshire sent Luxton away, he crossed the ball in to the area finding Slateford, whose shot struck the post before being cleared. On 85 minutes Bodmin finally got a decisive second goal when, after striking the upright for the third time the ball went back across the goal for SHANE KRAC to find the target from close range. A minute later, incredibly, the Parkway post was struck again, this time Luxton being the unlucky player. As the final whistle approached Bodmin scored a third goal when a free-kick from the right of the box to the far post found Luxton who headed the ball back into the 6 yard box for CARTER to head into the net form close range.
The final whiste saw more celebrations to end an incredible and unforgettable 2011/12 season, where supporters joined the players for commemorative photographs with all three of the trophies won by Bodmin Town.
