Report

Thanks to the Bury lads for the game Saturday & for the heads up Fri night before we travelled about the waterlogged pitches at Goshen. Id got 24 lads (not all players) who had tickets for Man City v WBA so decided to travel & if the game wasnt on, we'd set up camp in a weatherspoons somewhere lol

When I arrived & saw that a third of the pitch was under water, it wasnt looking very promising to playing. A second pitch was very much simlar & a third pitch was getting the same with the rain still pouring down. I gave the decision to lads & they decided to get the game started & see where it took us & too be fair, up until the last 15 mins, the pitch held up very well.

I think the highlight of everyone's morning was seeing me come out fully kitted in Bury FC gear to ref the game! I nearly kissed the badge when Bury scored ;o)

The way Bury started, I thought it was a bad decision to play the game lol. They took 30 seconds to take the lead but their lad (who too be fair admitted later) was offside. 30 seconds after that Bury took the lead with a big punt up field which our defence failed to deal with & the striker nipped a lovely lobb over our keeper. I said at that point that we were in for a good-hiding today!

Bury pushed our defence back, who were really struggling with the big ball over the top & they should have really taken advantage iof it. Boing finally got to grips with the weather & the pitch, considering that, we played some lovely passing football through the whole team. We got an equaliser through a good move which Ste Jones found Ben Wallace free in the box to put the ball away.

Boing then managed to get into it & after some good chances & smart saves from the Bury keeper, we managed to get the lead with a through ball off Jimmy Dale that was put away by Ben Wallace to make it 2-1.

I (Ref) then gave a penalty for a foul on Ben Wallace which looked inside the box, but with no one able to agree, I decided that a free kick outside would be a fair decision to all (esp in IFA football).

Half time Bury 1-2 Boing FC

Second half saw Boing continue to push & a third goal come from a wicked deflection past the keeper from a Chris Hunter shot.

Both sides started to make the changes but a 4th for Boing came after the excellent Bury keeper spilled a shot (he'd held everything all morning) and the ball was stabbed home from 3 yards by Ad Jones.

Boing's 5th and hatrick for Ben Wallace came after a through ball was dinked over the keeper into the net.

Bury found a consolation goal with a couple of minutes to go but wasnt enough time to find a comeback.

Considering the conditions, I thought both sides were very sensible with tackles etc. There were a couple that I had to pull up but no mallice in any of them.

Another great game against another good Bury side and as mentioned already, in real tricky conditions. Look forward to see them again soon.
