`Sports Argus` reports on `The Mikes`
Date: 23/09/06
Striker Jimmy Quiggin still is unsure if he needs to have an operation to have his damaged shoulder repaired after dislocating it against Tipton Town on 12th September.

Mick Bayley revealed, “His shoulder kept dropping forward and wasn’t supporting it self. He could be out for 3-4 months at least. It is a huge blow for Jimmy but it gives one of the others a chance to show what they are made of. (Source Nick Pullen of the `Sports Argus.)

Studley are trying to tempt ex-`Mikes` keeper Rob Clarke to the Beehive. Manager Kevin Rowlands has served Alliance new boys Market Drayton with 7 days for Clarke who is currently helping out the Shropshire side after starting the season with Boldmere. Rowlands confirmed, “Rob is just what we need at the moment. He has been around the block a few times and I am looking at his experience to get us out of a hole.”

Meanwhile former `Mikes` player Paul Bonner has signed for Stratford Town.

Former protégé of the National Brazilian Soccer Academy is on trial at Boldmere.
Date: 06/10/06
Darren Rhodes (19) who is a protégé of the National Brazilian Soccer Academy (UK) has joined Boldmere St. Michaels Football Club on trial. The talented youngster, who has had spells at Walsall Football and a Premiership Academy, has been out of action for a while after rupturing his knee cruciate. He was close to `making a living out the game` when the injury occurred at the age of 17 years. Naturally the setback had been hard to take as he has not `kicked a ball in anger` for several years.

However the Wednesbury born attacking midfielder is keen to start again. He has played in a variety of positions in the team including centre half for the District and County Representative side.

He was spotted by a scout playing for his County at the age of 12 years. He was invited to the Brazilian Academy. He has also spent a season at Walsall’s School of Excellence when he was playing left back for the team.

The National Brazilian Academy has three centres. They are in Birmingham, Leeds and London. Southampton Coach Simon Clifford runs the set-up. Very much as a School of Excellence its scholars are signed up exclusively for the Academy.

Enter `Brazilian Soccer Academy UK` into `Google` for details.

`Sport Argus` reports on Kevin Charley parting company with the `Mikes`
Date: 30/09/06
`Sport Argus` reports on Kevin Charley parting company with the `Mikes` has linked up with Barwell and returns to Church Road for this afternoon’s game (3pm kick off)

Charley has become a casualty of Mikes early season success-even though leading marksman Jimmy Quiggin is currently out with a shoulder injury.

It leave `Mikes` Boss Mick Bayley with Mykel Beckley, Stuart How and Rom Cammock as his options up front.

The trio could come under threat from youngsters like Justin Burgher and Ross Breeze who have been banging in the goals for Boldmere reserves this season.

The pair are products of the youth team and Bayley has been so impressed with their progress that both will be involved with the first team squad this weekend.

There is also better news concerning who saw a consultant this week. Originally ruled out for several weeks Bayley confirmed, “The injury might not be as bad as first feared. There are already signs of improvement.”

The Colin Burton Memorial Match

Last night (Wednesday) the `Colin Burton Memorial Game` was played between a `Mikes Old Boys ` team and Mile Oak Rovers Football Club.

This is the 3rd annual fixture to commemorate the life of Colin who was associated with both teams. He sadly died in 2004.

The stats of the game will show that Paul Welburn scored the winner for the `Mikes` with a 20-yard shot that `screamed` into the net!!

Former player, Manager and now Club Director Alan Parsons had the opportunity to manage a Boldmere one more time. He said, “Thanks to all who attended the game and to the players who dug deep into their pockets. A cheque is being sent to St Giles Hospice for 350 pounds.”

Andy Harper signs from Leamington

News on a `Boldmere Old Boy`
Date: 15/07/06
Saturday 15th July: Former Boldmere player Lee Williams (45) was at the Boldmere training ground which is based at Braemar Road, Boldmere watching his son playing in a soccer tournament.

Looking fit and athletic he was however on crutches with his leg in a cast as he had snapped the Achilles tendon in his right foot. It occurred while playing in a charity football match four weeks ago. He described to Boldmere’s `Physio` Mick Talbot how he felt a kick in his heel. He turned around expect to remonstrate with the opposing player but there was no one near him. This is a classic sign and symptoms of a rupture. The former right winger spoke fondly of his time at Boldmere and later AP Leamington FC. Having been operated on Lee has a slow recovery ahead of him however he should be active again in 6 months.

We at Boldmere St. Michaels Football Club wish Lee a speedy recovery.

Boldmere’s first team squad were also in for extra training as they prepare for their first pre-season game away at Bolehall Swifts on 22nd July with a 3pm kick off.

Looking for other sponsors for the `Mikes`
Date: 01/07/06
The `Mikes` have received a tremendous boost in winning the Walsall Senior Cup Final. They have won this prestigious Cup for only the second time in the 50 year history of this competition.

The `Mikes` with their main sponsor `Amber Windows` already are turning their attentions to the 2006-07 campaign and beyond.

With the spiralling costs involved of competing in Midland Football Alliance football the ambitious Church Road outfit are appealing to other local businessmen, with a keen interest in grass roots football, who would be willing to help invest in the club as it also looks towards an ambition to progress higher in football's non-league pyramid.

With Manager Mick Bayley the `Mikes` have won their first a piece of silverware. The time is now right to build upon its present achievements - but this can only be achieved through the provision of additional finances.

Any individuals interested in assisting the club should in the first instance either email Club Secretary Dave Holvey on dholvey@walkerh.nl or contact the club via the link on the web site.

Programme Advertising
Date: 01/07/06
Boldmere`s match day programme the `Mikes Magazine` has been a big hit for supporters, programme evaluators and collectors as it has been voted the best in the `Midland Football Alliance` programme for the 2005-2006 season by `Soccer Club Swap Shop`. It also received the 3rd prize and was nationally recognised from the Wirral Programme collectors club for the 2004-2005 season.

Around 2,000 copies were produced last season and unlike newspapers these publications can have a high retention value for some football supporters. This depends on the nature of the match of course especially if it is a high profile cup game against League opposition or a top non-league side. In fact Boldmere St,. Michaels programmes some going back 50 years have been auctioned on `ebay`

`Ground hoppers` like to keep their match day programmes as a collectors item.

The Match day programme for the 2006-2007 season will continue to be produced in conjunction with `Lion Promotions`. To local Boldmere and Sutton Coldfield based companies it offers you low cost, effective advertising which can potentially put you in touch with potential customers.

So why not take advantage and place a business advert in the `Mikes Magazine`

New disciplinary code for the 2006-2007 season.
Date: 01/07/06

Boldmere St. Michaels F.C. and their fellow `Polymac Services` sponsored Midland Football Alliance clubs at step 5 of the FA Non League Pyramid will be governed by a new disciplinary code for the 2006-2007 season.

This will involve players beings suspended by match rather than for a period of time following sendings-off or for incurring five yellow cards.

The city club's chief executive Andy Morris, who attended a meeting of Midland Football Alliance sides in Birmingham on Monday to hear of the decision, backed the move.

"Overall the new system will be better and will fall in line with clubs in the Non-League Pyramid and above," he said.

Suspensions will come into force 21 days after a sending-off or fifth caution.

But, should a player be suspended for a time period because of an offence playing in Sunday football, he will still be suspended from senior first-team football until that suspension has elapsed.
