SOUTHERN COUNTIES FLOODLIT YOUTH LEAGUE - NEMEAN DIVISION - 2007/08

Boreham Wood "Under 18's" warmed up for their F.A. Youth Cup clash against Swansea City with a dominating 14 - 0 victory over Hillingdon Saints.

It took just seven minutes for the scoring to get under way. Jon Clements' run split the defence before picking out Piero Bagarone arriving at the back post to slide in and finish.
Wood continued to build attack after attack and got their rewards twenty-five minutes later when Corey Whitely finished from close range with Jon Clements the provider once again.

The third and fourth goals of the evening came from a Shane Bambridge corner. His first picked out an unmarked Tom Nicholas to head into the top corner. His second finding Yemi Atta on the edge of the area, and he rifled the ball home.

With the game becoming more than one-sided, the half still had time for two more goals in favour of Wood. Shane Johnson finished from a Carl Edwards cross and Jon Clements got his first of the evening, after some great footwork to round three Hillingdon Saints' players.

Corey Whitely added to his tally at the start of the second half after the Hillingdon defence gave him acres of space to move into. The eighth goal of the night followed shortly after when Carl Edwards picked up a great through ball from Shane Bambridge and he rounded the 'keeper and slid the ball into an empty net. Carl Edwards then capped off a fine night's work by grabbing his second when he drove the ball home from eight yards.

The tenth goal of the night fell to Shane Johnson who slotted home after a well worked move before Jon Clements added goals number eleven, twelve, thirteen and fourteen within the last ten minutes of the game.

With the three points in the bag, and Wood's "Under 18's" unbeaten Season still intact, the next test will be against Coca Cola Division One side Swansea City in the next Round of the F.A. Youth Cup on Friday 23 November, 7.00pm kick off.

Wood's P.A.S.E. Academy Director added "This is such a huge game for the area and I think people have to realise that and get behind it. We have been rewarded for all our hard work with this tie against Swansea City and I will be telling our boys to enjoy their evening as occasions like this don't come around too often!"
