Competitive football in and around Bradda started about 1900 just between the Valley teams due to the lack of transport. Most of the travelling was done on foot to local villages but further afield such as Litton or whoever they travelled by horse and cart!
The Hope Valley League was up and running just before the First World War, but as the War started the League had to stop until the early 1920's. It was Easter Monday 1920 when Bradda beat Stoney Middleton 1-0 in the final of The Derbyshire Medal Competition. This must have been one of the first honours that Bradda won! For two and a half seasons Bradda never lost a game in the early 20's.
In 1934 Bradda F.C came close to folding due to lack of finances and eventually did fold in 1952.
This only lasted two years because in the Summer of 1954 The Bradwell Sports Club itself would run a senior football team. So the Team became Bradwell Sports Club from Bradwell F.C at the start of the season 1954/55.
Bradwell did used to play on the field near Brough where the Severn Trent station is now but swapped the venue for the field where they are now in 1984.
In the 1986/87 season Bradda did well finishing third in the A division, semi-finalists in the Divisional Cup and semi-finalists in the Lawrence Cup but the reserves did better winning the C Division and also winning the Divisional Cup.
More recently in the 1992/93 and 1997/98 seasons Bradwell became a force to be reckoned with winning the Lawrence Cup in both campaigns. The team then included both Mickey Harrison currently assistant manager and Paddy Middleton who was the assistant manager then and manager now.
Over the next few years the reserve team was to fold and the first team dropped in to the B Division.
At the start of 2005/06 season Paddy Middleton along with Jez Warrington took the reigns as manager and assistant manager to take Bradda into Division A as champions.
During the 2006/07 season the club suffered a severe shock in the passing of Nicky Johnson, the club president, a great loss to everyone concerned at the club, but dedicated the promotion back to the Premier Division in his memory. In the same season Bradda first team were semi-finalists in the Cliff Ellis Trophy. During this season also Bradwell introduced a second team again with Andrew "Pop" Robertson taking control and building a strong youthful team. Pop recently moved on and now the management team of Nathan Jewell and Sam Dalton have taken control.
