Brief History of the Ladies Team

Braintree Town Ladies F.C. was formed in the summer of 2005 at the request of Braintree Town Chairman, Lee Harding. He appointed David Streetley, currently on the books at Halstead Town as a player, as Ladies Manager - Streetley had been involved in the women’s game since 2000.

Despite having to start at the bottom of Division Three of the Essex County Women’s League, five league titles in a row has seen them progress to playing South East Combination football in only their sixth season.

In addition to the hatrick of county league titles there have been additional successes in Cup competitions, being beaten finalists in the Essex FA Women’s Cup in 2006, 2007 & 2010 - losing to competition favourites Dagenham & Redbridge (twice) and Colchester United on each occasion.

The Iron Ladies also made history by becoming the first side in the history of the competition to win the Essex County Women's League Challenge Cup in three successive seasons - in 2006, 2007 and 2008. They added the Eastern Region Division 1 South title to the trophy cabinet in 2009 and followed this up by winning the Eastern Region Premier Division in 2010.

Having completed five successive League titles Streetley was on record saying, “Each year we have improved as individuals and as a team and we have come along way in five seasons. Working with young and local players who share my passion and desire to improve has been a wonderful experience. Lee Harding and all at Braintree Town Football club have supported us fully since 2005 and we aim to repay all of them by having a successful team that the town can be really proud of”.
