October 4th 2008 we are moving for the winter to the gym at St Marys School.
Follow Newbold Road through the traffic lights past the first entrance to St Marys School. Take the turning just after the security fence down a small lane. The Gym is at the bottom of the lane.
This is an all year round 'Fun Football' weekly session for girls and boys from (nearly) 5 to 12 years, of any ability, who enjoy playing football.
In 'Winter', we train indoors in the excellent facility at St Mary's School. From Easter*, you will find us at our new Brampton Rovers' Ground on Newbold Back Lane (Ex-Newbold Community School sports field).
We have 3 separate 'age grouped' sessions with at least 3 coaches per session for the younger ones. At least 1 Coach, trained to F.A standard - Level One, is in attendance at all times. Level one coaches are qualified first aiders.
There is no membership fee, just registration, and for only £2 per session, players can turn up every week or just every now and again.
Training is split into 2 sesions. The 1st session runs from 9.30am to 10.30am for the younger age groups and the 2nd session from 10.30 to 11.30 for the older age groups.
The SMC is proving very popular; attendance is between 20 & 30 children per session. With effect from Saturday 3rd May 2008 we are starting specialised goal keeper training sessions. These will commence at 10.30am at a cost of £2.00.
We have a Tuck Shop that serves tea, coffee & hot chocolate for the Mums, Dads & Grandparents and for the children a wide range of sweets, chocolate, crisps, drinks, etc., prices range from 5p to 30p, that they can choose from before they leave. I'm not sure which they enjoy more the football or the Tuck Shop.
As we've said the emphasis is on 'fun' for the children! That's not to say that our SMC Coaches don't work hard...they do!...and on that note:- on behalf of BRAFC we would like to take this opportunity to say a big, big, Thank You to all the Coaches and helpers for giving up your time and energy, most of you every week, to make SMC such a success and so enjoyable for the children,.. without you it would not be possible.
