Bredhurst Village FC was established in March 1997 by four enthusiastic fathers keen on providing their sons with a worthwhile leisure activity. Since then the club has grown considerably and now runs three age groups (U8's, U9's and U10's) consisting in total of 54 boys. Each age group is run by either 3 or 4 coaches all of whom are qualified to Kent Football Association Junior Team Leader standard.
In addition all coaches have successfully completed The British Red Cross First Aid Course. Three of our coaches are currently taking part in the next phase along the way to becoming fully qualified coaches. They will hopefully then join the one fully qualified English FA coach who is already assigned to the club. Once this is achieved we will be proud to announce that Bredhurst Village FC are alone in the county in possessing 4 fully qualified English FA coaches - something which other clubs need to address before changes are made by the Football Association to the way in which boys clubs are run.
The aim of Bredhurst Village FC is to provide recreation for the younger element of our community. Once outside school the opportunities are very limited and Bredhurst Village FC like to think that we are providing an alternative pursuit in an extremely friendly environment. The club currently has on its books several boys who live in the Village and we would like to think that our small contribution may well yield a future star. Irrespective of this we know in our minds that we have assisted in the development of our youngsters in a world, which offers very little.
It's not all football, football, football - Bredhurst Village FC prouds itself in providing opportunities for the parents to let their hair down and have some fun as well. Since its formation the club has run a hugely successful Social Club, which arranges numerous events during the year. The majority of these are adult only events, which give the parents a chance to mix and not worry about their children. These events have included: 'Alco-Pops' nights, Barn Dances and Disco's. In conjunction with the Social Club the football team host three major events during the packed year. At Easter an ' Egg Hunt ' is organised in and around the Village for players and younger brothers/sisters. At Christmas a special disco/party is provided at which each registered player receives a present from the club.
The big event takes place in May, once the season has finished. As a thank you for the efforts during the season, each boy is presented with a trophy. Whilst this take place the parents and relatives of the players enjoy the use of The Lordswood Leisure Centre. In recent years we have been fortunate to acquire the services of a football celebrity to present the well-earned trophies to the players.
When time allows we like to take the players on outings. Although the organisation is sometimes difficult the end results make it all worthwhile. Over the last couple of years we have: attended 3 Premier League football matches, visited 'Dreamland' in Margate, attended a training session with Charlton Athletic FC, spent an afternoon at Monkey Business (a local Leisure Centre) and numerous other places. As you can see we aim to provide our players with the very best of everything not limited to just football.
Our policy is that all the boys are treated exactly the same and judging by their reactions we think our mix for football and pleasure is just about right. On registering with Bredhurst Village FC each player is presented, free of charge, with the club kit. This consists of a Drill Top, Waterproof Coat, Shirt, Shorts, Socks, Winter Hat, Summer Cap, and Kit Bag. In return all we ask is that each of the players gives 100% effort during both training sessions and matches whilst representing Bredhurst Village FC. Communication is the key to being successful so each Saturday every player is handed a Bredhurst Village FC Newsletter. This ensures that all the important information of what's happened during the past week and what's planned for the next week gets home and is read by the parents
