Broadmead
The history of Broadmead FC is a long-winded tale of talent wasted, talent fulfilled, talent discovered and the burning ambition of the clubs chairman and founders.
The history of this great club can be traced as far back as 1995. Small-sided football was just becoming the mega past time it is today. A fraternal and youthful combination of brothers John & David Berry, and their cousins Paul and Steven Berry, along side life long friend Alexander Foreman decided to pit their skills against other local sides. Great success followed and the trophies pilled up.
The call to arms came in 2006 when the Broadmead name was reborn into an all singing, all dancing, sunday league team made up of ex-small side players, friends and aquaintances.
Hitchin Sunday League was the stage and preparations for the season saw a squad grow in skill, fitness and confidence winning all but one pre-season friendly.
The team gelled well, played sexy football at times and showed glimpses of brilliance. A first season, in a bottom division is always a tough one but spirits were high and the determination was clear to see. The team reached the last 16 of the County cup and gained promotion in the league. The Meaders now enter their second full season.
